JACKSON BROWNE & LINDA RONSTADT Don’t let you the billing fool you. Two different performers at two very different shows, bundled together because that’s the way ABC chose to broadcast them, not because there’s even a whiff of collaboration. The sound quality’s
not that hot either. Three Ronstadt songs ("Love Has No Pride,"
"Desperado," "Silver Threads") are fair enough, with
just a light background buzz to tell tales on the tape’s TV origin,
but some good stereo separation to compensate. The same number of Browne
numbers, however, are muffled and dull, with "Doctor My Eyes"
coming across almost painfully lifeless. There are a lot better recordings
of both artists floating around out there - this one will not satisfy
anyone. -
