ERIC CLAPTON
In The West Of Japan [Wow Wow Wow, Disc 9, 10, 11 of 11]

Live at the Rainbow Hall, Nagoya, Japan; October 25, 1997. Very good to excellent audience recording.

Following Clapton’s 1997 tour of Japan, Wow Wow Wow had released an 11-CD box set showcasing the following sets:
October 20, 1997 - Marine Messe, Fukuoka
October 21, 1997 - Castle Hall, Osaka
October 22, 1997 - Osaka Jo Hall, Osaka
October 24, 1997 - Green Arena, Hiroshima
October 25, 1997 - Rainbow Hall, Nagoya

Included in the set is a three-track bonus CD featuring: Change The World (from soundboard tape, October 13, 1997); Modern Girl (outtake from the Pilgrim album) and Pilgrim (a cappella version).

One could say Clapton was cruising - the setlist remained the same! A consummate entertainer, the guitarist did not disappoint his Japanese fans. Overall, a nice collection for those who want the Japan 1997 shows.

Thanks to Phil for sharing the tracks.

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

  5. wurm - yeah theres tons of cream outtakes and sessions. not much ec tho. theres some blind faith stuff out there too. theres a few cds worth of ec sessions from 74 80 82 and of course 70 including rehearsals and jam sessions and so on but as for actual outtakes alternates and songs that just didnt ever get released or make it to official releases as opposed to live recordings that is.. there just isnt much out there. i have a hell of an ec collection and i have about 5-6 cds worth of studio sessions that he didnt release post derek. the pilgrim track is a real rarity. in fact both of them are.
