  2. thank u.

  3. i know its a benefit and all. but its kind of amazing that if u add up all the music its exactly one hour. out of 2.5 hours. i dont know what they charged for tickets but i know id be pissed if i paid much to see roger sing 2 songs (and be on stage for 3) or bruce do 4. 2/5ths of the show is actual music. which is what the ppl who went to this event were there for i believe. incredible. ridiculous. again thank u for posting the music and separating that 9min crap intro for roger so we could have the 22mins of music he did.
wow..23mins of bruce. 11mins of max and 4.5mins of mayer. sigh.

By darth on Nov 13, 2012

  4. but i know id be pissed if i paid much

that would be the day you actually pay for anything.

  6. Thank you Big O amigos. Have a great week. Cold weather is coming to Thompson, this will be good music to smoke a Thanksgiving turkey by.

By James on Nov 14, 2012

  7. pond - i did say ‘if’ didnt i?
but how would u know if i have paid for things or not? u dont even know what youre talking about.
the point is.. if i had gone to this event and if i had paid much for tickets etc. id have been pissed for an hours worth of music in 2.5 hours worth of time. pity u totally missed the entire point. sigh.

By darth on Nov 14, 2012

  8. darth,
I think /you/ missed the entire point of a Benefit Show. It’s not about /you/, it’s for the _benefit_ of someone else. The music and comedy are just enticements. Consider donating to the cause, or to BigO, or something.

By Andrew on Nov 14, 2012

  9. It may or may not be PC on this site but…
I wish those who download these performances take a minute to give thanks to those who give everything for their flag.
Although this was a USA event I feel it applies to all who believe in the basic freedoms.
Those who try to subvert those freedoms, through a twisted reading of religion, or greed, the desire for power, that is what those men & women lost limbs, lives, & inner peace over. When they return to us, we need to support them, and thank them, not just download the music.
But I think what happened here is really kule.

    By Bluesman011 on Nov 14, 2012

  10. well put both Andrew and Bluesman011.
We must never forget the sacrifices made for freedom.

By sluggo on Nov 14, 2012

  11. i didnt miss the point of a benefit. but if there is going to be a performance given for money.. it should be expected that most of the people in the audience if not all of them went there with the anticipation of seeing more than an hours worth of performances. i dont know how much those tickets were but keep in mind that youre dl’ing the performances here for free w/o paying for them. and giving money to bigo (while a wonderful and thoughtful gesture of course) isnt getting money towards any soldiers or veterans or musicians for that matter. i wouldnt ride that high horse too proudly while berating me.
of course i understand the entire idea of this and most benefits. get over yourself.
how could u have missed my point? im just saying out of a 2.5 hour event.. it was only one hour of actual music. that sucks.

btw.. our freedom was never ever ever at stake with this or any war whatsoever. ok the revolutionary one over 235 years ago notwithstanding lol.
those soldiers and all vets from it are dead and so are all their families. for 10 generations!!
no benefits taking place now are doing any good in so far as protecting or celebrating our freedom. stop falling for the bullshit just because its so easy.
but i digress. i was only talking about the length of the show vs the amount of music in it.

By darth on Nov 15, 2012

  12. so, if the nazis had won world war 2 you don`t think your freedom was at stake ?
When pearl harbour was attacked you don`t think your freedom was at stake ?
    wow.. you are seriously wrong.
I have a cousin buried in flanders fields.
died from wounds recieved during d-day.
I have the last letter he wrote home to his parents telling them how proud he was to FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM.

By sluggo on Nov 15, 2012

  13. Judging from the benefit organization’s web site and more detailed news coverage, this event was advertised as being part of the New York Comedy Festival and included several comics in the lineup. The sponsor of this event clearly did not promote this as a 100% music event and I don’t think anyone attending was surprised to find a limited amount of music. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/roger-waters-bruce-springsteen-lead-stand-up-for-heroes-benefit-20121109, and remind.org.

As far as celebrity benefits go, this was probably better than most where all you get to see is one music star coming out to do 1-2 songs at the end.

By Ann Anemas on Nov 15, 2012

  14. a soldier saying that he was fighting for ‘our freedom’ doesnt mean it is accurate. theyre not known for their brains. they do what they do because of their fighting skills and because they are drones. its a numbers game. its not like he was a navy seal.
japan didnt have plans to take over america when they bombed pearl harbor. surely u cant possibly believe otherwise. yes its possible that germany would have eventually gotten here had they been able to. but i dont think our freedom was at stake. i dont believe it was ever really something to fear. hitler would have fizzled out long before he left europe. he had great ideas for his plan but as im sure u have heard many times before.. they were delusions of grandeur. he didnt have a chance and again.. youre talking about a war that ended 15 yrs before i was born. do u really think this benefit at the beacon theater did anything for them??? how much money do u think it generated that went to anyone.. even one human being over the age of 80? and remember.. they would have to be. since they had to be born around 1920-1925 to fight in that war.
minimum age would be 87 years old.

i think u should stop trying to pick the other side to everything i say just for the sake of arguing with me.
i am pretty damned sure close to 100% of the people who went to this event went there to see bruce or roger or both. 22mins / 23mins.
    RIDICULOUS!!!
    point made. done!

By darth on Nov 15, 2012

  15. darth you are a pathetic piece of shit.
Good young men and women have given up their lives so you can sit in front of your computer all day without recrimination. you make me puke.

By sluggo on Nov 15, 2012

  16. wow.

By darth on Nov 15, 2012

  17. darth, you forgot the War of 1812. My ancestor sent the message, “We have met the enemy, and with the providence of God, they are ours.” That is the real quote, not the censored one in the history books. My grandfather fought in WWI and barely survived the Spanish Flu on the way back home to California, which took months to recover. My father, Army Air Corps, got his purple heart fighting in WWII Philippines when the jeep he was riding in was ambushed. All 3 buddies that were with him were killed. My dad recovered from the injuries but he had PTSD. His nightmares of that ambush made him relive it. BTW, they drafted my dad for WWII - born 1916. Two of my uncles - my mother’s brothers - served in the Army in Europe during WWII. My father-in-law was an engineer and helped develop radar during WWII, and was in the bunkers when they experimented with above ground atom blasts - he got his lifetime dose of radiation, which all his children suffered for, including my late wife. My oldest brother was air force and stationed in a missle silo outside Cheyenne WY during the Cuban missle crisis. Another brother’s best friend’s dad was MIA in Vietnam. My twin was also Air Force - Master Sgt - Strategic Air Command - Vietnam Era Vet. When I meet anyone that I know is or was US military or national guard, I thank them for their service. They have earned my respect. You, sir, have lost mine.

    By 4yrsnojob on Nov 15, 2012

  18. A correction - Horton’s dad is still MIA.

    By 4yrsnojob on Nov 15, 2012

  19. “a soldier saying that he was fighting for ‘our freedom’ doesnt mean it is accurate. theyre not known for their brains. they do what they do because of their fighting skills and because they are drones. its a numbers game.”

wow. youre a thoroughly insensitive, self-absorbed wretch.

By barth on Nov 15, 2012

  20. exactly barth,
some “folks” do not deserve their freedom but they are so self absorbed they don`t even realize how fortunate they are that others took up the fight to protect their sorry little asses.

By sluggo on Nov 15, 2012

  21. Going big time with sloggo, et. al., on this one darth. Your statements here and elsewhere can, at best, be viewed as naive and mean spirited. To quote sluggo, you really do seem like a “a pathetic piece of shit”. When I left NYC a few years ago and moved to AZ, I was struck by how different the mood was about all things military. There is a much higher level of respect for the sacrifice of US military veterans and active duty members here. There are also those that overreact, like Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Russell Pierce (author of the heinous SB-1070), so it’s not all good vibes. Maybe you should get out to the desert and clear your head. That and a visit to the Grand Canyon might open your narrow mind. PS: The Bob Woodruff Foundation does really good things for vets. This benefit is just part of their annual funding. Check their site out and donate if you can. I did.

By Johnny Kinkdom on Nov 16, 2012

  22. For those interested, go to http://www.remind.org to donate, as little as $5.00, to the Bob Woodruff Foundation to help US veterans and soldiers in need.

By Johnny Kinkdom on Nov 16, 2012

  23. “hitler would have fizzled out long before he left europe. he had great ideas for his plan”

Great ideas, darth? The extermination of 12 million people?? Would you be able to express such ignorant comments if “his plan” had not been stopped by heroic Allied soldiers?

    Wow.

By Dingus on Nov 16, 2012

  24. i dont say that servicemen dont have my respect. if anyone has the feeling that i meant this.. u misunderstood me completely. i never said this nor do/did i mean this in any way shape or form. of course i respect soldiers and it means everything to me that they do what they do for this country. they do what theyre told to do and what theyre paid to do albeit poorly.
dont read more into what i said than what i said. i have no ill will towards any soldiers past or present or any servicemen who served in any war. i know many who fought in nam and i have talked to many and i know 2nd hand big time what they went thru there. i have my own nitemares. trust me.. no one could imagine theirs if u didnt experience what they did. wanna come close? try getting into the head of dalton trumbo. i spent hours talking to him before he died in the mid 70s. u cant talk to him now of course but u can still read things he wrote like johnny got his gun and read the various dissertations that various scholars have done on that mans work to get a deeper understanding of the nitemares that some of the soldiers deal with. and no.. thats not the only one there is. there are many others. thats just one. try the dozens of other books and films out there that are easily available. i didnt say that i have no respect for our heroes of war. dont put your words in my mouth. i didnt say what u think i said.
every time i see a man in uniform i ask if he is or has fought in war. if i know otherwise that someone has for any other reason.. i always thank them. i also thank cops and firemen. i thank doctors nurses ppl who work with elderly and kids and mentally disabled. anyone who does what they do that i find special and important enough to deserve my thanks. before u judge me wait til u know me. u have no clue about me. u dont know what i do with my time. u know nothing about me. u assume a great deal. u know a few tidbits about my past that i let u in on because they were interesting to note and i wanted to make reference to something related to the current item being offered on that particular page. like the dylan aj weberman phone interview for example. god was that a mistake.

ive already told certain ppl on this site i will not respond to them. if u arent getting responses.. u should figure it out by now. sure im dying to respond to the things u say because theres so much to educate u on but i know u only say things that u know are wrong to get my reaction so i wont fall for it.

once again.. in so far as the soldiers the wars we fight and them fighting for our freedom… i dont believe that is the case. i dont claim that they dont deserve our thoughts and praise. u misunderstood what i said. im not surprised. the majority of u.. at least im sure many who dont post here.. should realize that my problem was with the performance on this page and the music offered vs the entire nites event. obviously it went further and what i said was misunderstood. fine. i tried to explain what i meant and some of u idiots who sit on the edges of your seats waiting to pounce on things i say had your chance. sigh.
once again.. i appreciate what soldiers do but i dont believe theyre doing what u seem to think theyre doing.

lastly… 4yrs - i didnt forget the war of 1812. i was talking about wars where our freedom was at stake. surely u know what the war was about. rather than explain it.. ill link u -
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_1812
first 25 or 30 lines should do it. of all ppl on here i would think u would maintain your respect for someone who holds to his beliefs even if theyre not the same as yours. where no one else here might know the following line.. i know u do..
i may not agree with what u have to say…but i shall defend to the death your right to say it.
interesting time for me to use this quote eh?

By darth on Nov 16, 2012

  25. Darth ,
with one very mean, misguided and insensitive sentence you totally sullied the good reputation of my late relative, and all soldiers.
    your quote,
…”a soldier saying that he was fighting for ‘our freedom’ doesnt mean it is accurate. theyre not known for their brains.”..
despicable no matter what spin you try to put on this.
“..not known for their brains..” and yet you did not know my cousin and you judge him .This is contrary to how you want to hate to be judged by people who don`t know you.
Your very lengthy apology / spin , for some reason reeks of denial and spin doctoring.
You revealed yourself Darth with this mean spirited post. Live with it.

By sluggo on Nov 16, 2012

  26. “.. u misunderstood me completely.”

    wrong. its very clearly written.

By barth on Nov 16, 2012

  27. HEY DARTH, FORMER CIA DIRECTOR DAVID PETRAEUS IS LOOKING FOR A GOOD SPIN DOCTOR RIGHT ABOUT NOW. I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF YOU, SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS I KNOW THEY BUG YOU BUT THEMS THE BREAKS DICKHEAD.
IM GOING TO POST YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT SOLDIERS NOT BEING KNOWN FOR THEIR BRAINS AT MY LOCAL LEGION, DO YOU MIND IF THE VETS CONTACT YOU ?

By DROPKICKSARGE on Nov 16, 2012

  28. if u use the caps.. u arent sorry about them. u can read what youre responding to which are not written in caps therefore u dont need to type in them. u are lying when u claim that u have to use them. its common sense.
its not that they bug me. its bad netiquette. u should know better. have whoever u wish to contact me do so at dropkicksarge@schmuck.com

as for one of the idiots above u… i did not apologize nor spin anything. all i did was attempt to explain what u didnt seem to understand the first time i said it. evidently u didnt get it the 2nd time either. for some ppl no amount of explanation will suffice. for others none is necessary. if u really dont get what i am trying to say then u never will. as i said at one point.. u really should stop trying to pick the other side to everything i say just for the sake of arguing with me.
u know this is what u are doing. soldiers follow orders. they do what they are told. they do not make decisions themselves. these men are not attacking anyone of their own volition and invading countries of their own decision making process. theyre doing what they are ordered to do. why do i need to explain this to u? cant u figure any of this out on your own?? do i have to put every fucking piece to every fucking puzzle together for u so that u understand every damned thing i type so u cant possibly find something to pick apart??? and even then im sure u obnoxious shitheads (and u know who u are) will find something that i left out or didnt think to include step by step details of so u could understand it.. and find a hole and say aha! gotcha!!
what the hell is wrong with u idiots???
i am entitled to my own beliefs. i am not telling u what to think. if u believe that what i said about soldiers is mean or misguided.. it isnt btw.. then fine. u have the right to think that. that doesnt mean im a pathetic piece of shit. who the fuck are u? someone doesnt agree with your way of thinking and u think that its perfectly acceptable to do what u do/did? omg!! who educated u? where do u get off? how can u act so high n mighty and then prove that u are so ignorant and full of hubris? how arrogant of u!! rather than judging me consider that maybe u were misinformed and u dont know all u think u do. maybe another pov is in order. did u even give what i said a chance? just because someone is a soldier doesnt make them a philosopher-king. u know it takes much more than someone who has a working knowledge of war and strategy when it comes to fighting in military predicaments and situations to run things. u seem to think a bit too highly of men in combat past n present. and dont get me wrong. i agreed that i appreciate that they put their lives on the line. but i dont feel that it was for our freedom. i dont think our freedom was at stake each time any of them were fighting. do u really believe afghanistan was going to take over the united states? do u really think vietnam was taking over the usa? was iran? was korea? was japan??? are u kidding me??? the gulf war 21 yrs ago.. was that about our freedom too? were we in danger of being taken over by the arabs??? do u know something that i dont know??? tell me u fucking idiot.. tell me how our freedom was at stake in all these wars in the last 50 years of my life!!!
hell.. ww2 ended 67 years ago!! ppl who fought that war are at least 85 years old now if theyre still alive. are u listening??????
DO U UNDERSTAND THAT U HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT THE HELL U ARE TALKING ABOUT???
    get off my ass here!!

on a final note to u sluggo–
in all likelihood.. your cousin flunked out of high school and couldnt get a job. he had no skills of any marketable value and had no means of support. no one was interested in hiring the stupid fuck and he had no real worthwhile purpose or much of a realistic set of goals on the horizon. perhaps his parents suggested that the military would make a man out of him. maybe someone suggested theyd teach him a trade and said hed have some money when he got out. or he was threatened with no other options or choices if he didnt do it. maybe he was running away from something. who knows? certainly u arent going to tell us the entire truth. and frankly i dont care. most of us dont. the point is.. your cousins a loser like his cousin (u) is. normally i wouldnt say this to anyone. in fact u are the first one i have ever said this to. ever!! imagine how much of my respect u lost in order to get me to the point where i succumbed to the level where i can hate too. congratulations.

  31. “of course i respect soldiers”
    …by calling them brainless drones…

    “i have my own nitemares.”
Once again, it’s all about you.

“…dalton trumbo. i spent hours talking to him”
Yet another imaginary friend. The list is endless. Sigh.

“i didnt say what u think i said.”
Yes you did, it’s printed very clearly here.

“every time i see a man in uniform i ask if he is or has fought in war. if i know otherwise that someone has for any other reason.. i always thank them. i also thank cops and firemen. i thank doctors nurses ppl who work with elderly and kids and mentally disabled.”
    Liar.

“u have no clue about me. u dont know what i do with my time. u know nothing about me.”
You steal music, movies, and books online, cheat ticket takers, insult and alienate the few friends you have, turn almost every bigO post into a discussion about you, discuss your surgeries on a music blog, and pick through rock stars’ garbage. Did I leave out anything?

    “its bad netiquette.”
    You should know.

“i would think u would maintain your respect for someone who holds to his beliefs even if theyre not the same as yours.”
    Not after what you said.

“where no one else here might know the following line”
Eighth graders know Voltaire’s most famous quotation.

“interesting time for me to use this quote eh?”
    No.

“how can u act so high n mighty and then prove that u are so ignorant and full of hubris?”
Because it works so well for you?

    “on a final note to u sluggo–….”
If if ever had any doubts that you were a sociopath, this paragraph removed all of them. It’s obvious why your famous “friends” drop you after a year or two- they see the true darth, in all his insensitive, self-absorbed, profane glory.

    Aha. Gotcha.

this is exacty what i mean when i say looking for anything i say to argue with. u dont care what it is.. ull look for absolutely anything and attack it. it doesnt even matter if u agree or disagree with it. wtf is wrong with u?

anyway, for darth to say he doesn’t frequent any blogs isn’t accurate. here’s a link below with one of his comments he posted in 2009. i remember he would post his e-mail address in comments to the few friends he does have on bigo, and it was an aol e-mail address.

  57. just a couple quotes of words of wisdom from our resident arsehole who feels unjustly accused.
..” soldier saying that he was fighting for ‘our freedom’ doesnt mean it is accurate. theyre not known for their brains. they do what they do because of their fighting skills and because they are drones….
..”in all likelihood.. your cousin flunked out of high school and couldnt get a job. he had no skills of any marketable value and had no means of support. no one was interested in hiring the stupid fuck and he had no real worthwhile purpose or much of a realistic set of goals on the horizon. perhaps his parents suggested that the military would make a man out of him. maybe someone suggested theyd teach him a trade and said hed have some money when he got out. or he was threatened with no other options or choices if he didnt do it. maybe he was running away from something. who knows? certainly u arent going to tell us the entire truth. and frankly i dont care. most of us dont. the point is.. your cousins a loser like his cousin (u) is.
