AL KOOPER
Sausalito 1974 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Record Plant, Sausalito, CA; broadcast November 9, 1974(?) (likely recorded on October 23, 1974). Excellent KSAN FM 95.5 broadcast.

Here is Al Kooper, solo on guitar and piano. Thanks to twofthrs who shared the show in 2006.

“You probably first heard of Al Kooper… working as a sideman for Bob Dylan. Then it was Al Kooper in the Blues Project; the man who put together Blood, Sweat And Tears… Also was the man who did the first Super Session with Stephen Stills and Michael Bloomfield; and the second Super Session. He is the producer of the first Lynyrd Skynyrd LP… I always think of him as the man who played French Horn on You Can’t Always Get What You Want…”
- DJ Tom Donohue

  4. Never get enough of Al K. Wasn’t any of the ‘68-’72 period recorded? Way short of live material. Here is a guy who literally played with everyone who came to NYC or LA and there is zilch! Love the Koop!

  11. This is fun but you know I`ve always thought that Al Kooper was one of those guys who just happened to be in the right place at the right time all the time. He`s not a tremendous musician, I mean he barley played anything but a few chords on Like a Rolling Stone and his vocals are really not great but there is something about him and his music. It can`t be all luck , cripes, Blues Project, Blood Sweat and Tears[and arguably their first and best lp] the Super Sessions with Bloomfield, Brooks and Stills and lynyrd Skynyrd not to mention a lot of solo projects. There is something very special about the guy.
