track 1: unreleased track, probably a “Saturday Night Live” recording.
[Ernie Clark emailed in this note: The song “If You Don’t Know” is actually titled “Any Road” and it was on the “Brainwashed” album. This performance was shown on the VH-1 show “George Harrison-A Tribute”, not Saturday Night Live. The performance was taped in 1997.]
tracks 2-15:  were recorded during the “All Must Pass Session”
track 16: live VH1 1997
track 17: early acoustic version
tracks 18-22: George and Jeff Lynne live on the radio, 1988
track 23: Traveling Wilburys song, 1990
tracks 24-27: George and Paul Simon, “Saturday Night Live”, 1976 (tracks 26 and 29 were not broadcast)
tracks 28-30: George on radio, 1974
track 31: George and Phil Spector, 1970

Note: Tracks 7 and 8 are likely to have been released officially on the 30th Anniversary Edition of All Things Must Pass.

  5. too bad george isn`t still with us. his music grows lager with each passing year. Unlike McArtney, George seemed to be able to edit his own material and separate the wheat from the chaff.
We miss you George, you were possibly the
    most creative Beatle after all.

  6. Thank You.

  7. Cool. Clean. Nice. Honest. Familiar yet different. And all of it excellent. Thanks to whoever posted it and thanks to BigO for sharing it.

  8. if anyone missed it and was interested in what paul mccartney performed on the colbert report on wed nite he did “I’ve Just Seen a Face,” followed after a break by “Hi, Hi, Hi” and “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite.” Later, he performed “Listen to What the Man Said,” then “Lady Madonna.” He stuck around to record a web exclusive performance of “Birthday,” which he dedicated to “anyone who has a birthday during the entire year.”
a total of 6 songs. total length of just music is under 18mins.

  9. I’ve got a “collection” of songs from George in a similar vein that goes by the title “Far East Man”.. some of these look to be the same.. however this is a more extensive collection..31 songs vs. the 19 I have.. Thanks for posting this… I’ll have a listen and see what’s different..

  10. Paul McCarney’s appearance on the Colbert Report can be seen in full here:
Just scroll down a little to the “Most Recent Episode” box on the left. If you’re a few days late, there’s a link up top for “Full Episodes”.

  11. More specifics on these excellent recordings. Tracks 18-22 with Jeff Lynne were recorded for the “Rock Line” radio show at KLOS-FM studios and broadcast on 2-10-88 per the “Far East Man” bootleg. Tracks 28-30 were recorded for Alan Freeman’s BBC Radio show “Rock Around The World” and broadcast on 10-18-74 (per ‘Far East Man” boot). The “Saturday Night Live” performances were from 11-20-76 and can be seen on their DVD set. Ernie Clark’s info on Track 1 also applies to Track 16. Finally, Tracks 2-13 are also available on “Beware of ABKCO!” boot (George inserts that line in the omitted Track 7!) Thanks for the posting and hope this helps the other obsessives out there.

  12. Couple more notes. The Traveling Wilburys outtake “Maxine” has been released on the Wilburys box set. Last but not least, the “Far East Man” boot was posted on BigO in November, 2012 by the amazing Philip Cohen, which is where I acquired it. Repost?

  16. Darth, my 22 yr old son attended Bonnaroo (his 3rd) and reported that Macca”s set was “amazing”. Took the whole fam to the Driving US tour in 2002 so it was his second Macca show. Loved every second. The first hour was simulcast by Bonnaroo and had our whole family dancing and singing. Gotta find that rip somewhere! My son finished the night with DJ Pretty Lights at dawn. “Best EDM set ever!” was his review.

  17. evidently the petty set was one of the highlights. i recorded the zz top set. i listened to the lumineers and the guy after them who i didnt care about but i know hes big. he really didnt do it for me. cat power ended after zz top but i didnt listen to them. im sure the govt mule set will be out there in a few days. most of their sets make it out. even when theyre audience recorded theyre superb quality cuz their fans know what theyre doing. its like phish and the dead. u know im sure.
there are a few mccartney shows that either were streamed or will be from this tour and therefore will be available in sbd quality soon enough dont worry. im sure bigo will have one of them soon enough too. if i see it anywhere or im sure if someone wants to try to outdo me and say they got it before me theyll post it here for u and everyone else. give it a few days.
