The Foottappers & Wheel Shunters Club Gig 1995 [Vinyl Gang VGP-084, 2CD]

Live at the Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; May 27, 1995. Very good audience recording.

This comment was posted on the net a while back:

“This show was suppose to be the original Stripped LP. However with most live recordings, they never made it to press as an LP. Stripped ended up being done live in a studio but without a crowd. I read on a website, Fingerprint File, Mick ordered this whole recording to be dumped into the sea… Luckily it wasn’t.”

Street Fighting Man, from the May 26, 1995 show at the Paradiso was included in the Stripped (1995) album. All Down The Line, from the May 27, 1995 show, was released as the B-side of the Like A Rolling Stone single.

Thanks to werther2003 for sharing this show at HungerCity.

  4. I saw “Muscle Shoals” last night, a fine movie about the two great recording studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and the people behind them. The heart of the movie is Rick Hall of Fame Studios and his house band The Swampers, who left to open Muscle Shoals Sounds. There’s great music throughout and comments from Clarence Carter, Jimmy Cliff, Aretha, Mick, Keith, Etta, Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, Steve Winwood, and others. The movie briefly touches on the racial situation in Alabama in the ’60s, and Jerry Wexler tries to do Rick Hall the way he did Jim Stewart of Stax Records. In theaters, On Demand, and iTunes.

  5. Thanks Big O. This is a fantastic quality recording, considering it is audience. It’s really great to hear “Street Fighting Man” as an acoustic number. That’s the way it was on “Beggars Banquet.”

  6. This is a real treat. And much better than the 2013 version of the Stones. Thank you guys!

  7. Still remember this great event. Too late for tickets in Paradiso BUT they show the second concert on a big screen at the Museumplein, crowded with people, singing and dancing!

  8. Hi Big O, thanx for sharing. Like A Rolling Stone from this particular concert (May 27) ended up on Stripped!
The song was a bit remixed and edited: on Stripped you can hear Keith saying “thank you Bob” at the end of Like a rolling stone, but Keith didn’t say that at this concert. They edited that part in.
