Philip Cohen noted: “These seem to be in-progress mixes of the released takes - they show how the released recordings were built up by overdubs.”

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

A song that took me ten years to live and two years to write
- Bob Dylan

Joni Mitchell had an album out called Blue. And it affected me, I couldn’t get it out of my head. And it just stayed in my head and when I wrote that song I wondered, what’s that mean? And then I figured that it was just there, and I guess that’s what happened, y’know.
- Bob Dylan (to Craig McGregor, March 1978)

What Tangled Up In Blue meant to Dylan. For more write-ups:

a) Tangled Up In Blue - #3 released version - click here
- inspiration from his art-teacher (Norman Raeben)
- his broken heart (which fueled a burst of creative energy – only comparable to his mid- ’60s trilogy)
- his new found interest in “open tuning” (supposedly inspired by Joni Mitchell)

b) Song of the Day #784: ‘Tangled Up in Blue (Demo) - click here

  13. Via ‘Lowgen’

These tracks are from the “Rock Band 2″ game, which contains several different tracks from the session, and allows the player to play along any which way.

The “MOGG” (multitrack) files from the game are still on Demonoid.and anyone can make their own mix. A MOOG file can be opened in Audacity or Audition and I guess one can play any channel or two.

“Jon’s” mixes were posted on Expecting Rain in Feb 6 2010. This torrent may be Jon’s or may be someone’s new mixes. I don’t care.

MeetMeInTheMorning is not from the release but sounds close to the Test Pressing version (with the bass in the middle), and with EQ added.
