with Promise Of The Real
Lincoln, NE 2015 [no label, 3CD]

Live at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln, Nebraska; July 11, 2015. Very good audience recording - slightly distant with slight echo.

L Kent Wolgamott, Lincoln Journal Star (

About 90 minutes into his concert at Pinnacle Bank Arena Saturday night, Neil Young strapped on “Old Black” and started to whistle, kicking off the jaunty “A Rock Star Bucks a Coffee Shop.” With Promise Of The Real chugging slim behind him like Crazy Horse, Young blasted Monsanto and Starbucks - and got a cheer from the crowd of more than 6,000 when he sang of the “fields of Nebraska,” while stating farmers won’t be able to grow what they want to grow. “We don’t want to offend anybody,” Young said in the only statement he made beyond “thank you” during the show. “But we won’t be happy till they’re not happy”…

Unlike nearly all his contemporaries who are content to vacuum up the cash with greatest-hits shows, the 69-year-old Young continues to plow forward, playing new songs and deep catalog material. That had him on point - in fine, strong voice throughout, fully committed and locked in with the band in a sharply constructed set.

  3. BigO folks - we all really love these posts, but please, PLEASE, in the name of God, PLEASE stop posting artwork as pdf files. If you can create pdf, you can post the jpg images from which they are created and which are so much easier to work with. Thank you.

  4. I have to echo the PDF cover issue. If the cover is in PDF format I don’t bother downloading it. I find it unusable. At least with JPG’s I can put them in Photoshop or Publisher and create covers that are the right size.

That being said thanks for all the great music. You have rounded out my collection with some real gems!!!

  5. Thank you! I don’t know if they will swing by the Pacific NW, but I will attend, if possible. Getting ahold of this recording eases the pain of probably missing the shows. Much appreciated, as always. Alan in Seattle.

  6. Are people really still downloading these tracks and burning them to CD’s? Is that why you need the artwork?
I used to do that - years and years ago - before they invented like Ipods…..
    just saying

  12. Tracks 303 and 304 have the wrong song titles- track 303 is Monsanto years and track 304 is If I don’t know. BTW is there anyway BIGO can get some the Hot Tuna 3 piece electric shows that are currently playing here on the east coast? Thank you BIGO for all the music!

By Tunafan on Jul 17, 2015

  13. Hello Tunafan

Thanks. Unfortunately, Hot Tuna have a “no taping” policy and do not allow for internet sharing of their shows.

  14. I like the stance he is taking about the streaming and the shitty quality.More musicians should fight back like this.Vinyl rules!
