  2. What ? No discussion about his dick ? Let’s get the talk goin mates

By Dave from the UK on Dec 3, 2016

  3. Oh Yeah , let’s get back to the dickfest, Heaven help us that we should talk about his music ! he is after all one of the top ten entertainment icons of all time and trancended music , film and pop culture in general and all people want to talk about is his genatailia and personal life , I suppose the nut jobs here are taking a break , only one comment so far and of course no music talk as usual . These recordings are very rare , as rare apparently as appreciation for the man and his immense talents , great post

By CC Ryder on Dec 3, 2016

  4. Ring a ding was sort of Frank’s swan song to his peak album period which began with 55s Wee small ours through the remaining years of the 50s up until this time , many classic albums during that time , my personal favorite was for the lonely 58 , although they were all great back then as he worked with Gordon Jenkins and Nelson Riddle many times , This was by far Sinatras peak as both a vocalist and an entertainer , At this time he was probably the biggest entertainer in the world

By CC Ryder on Dec 3, 2016

  5. I agree , if someone had told me when I was a teen or in my early twenties that I would one day love Sinatra , I would have said they were crazy , Sometimes you have to get older to appreciate different music , Still love the classic rock of my youth but now also like Sinatra , Nat King Cole , Peggy Lee , June Christy , And other types of music , People that limit themselves to only certain types of music are wearing blinders and depriving themselves of some great stuff , give it a listen , thanks again for these great gems from the past

  6. What Chuck said.

By Just Bill on Dec 3, 2016

  7. @Chuck in Texas:
I too grew up with classic rock, but I can’t listen to it now. I’ve just heard it way too much. Bores me silly. I listen mostly to instrumental stuff now–experimental weirdness, free jazz, classical and extreme metal (which is essentially instrumental because the vocals are unintelligible sounds).

That said, one of the five best shows I’ve ever seen: Tom Jones. What a performance–it wasn’t cheesy, it wasn’t campy, he just straight up belted out songs and killed it. And he picked his band members for how the played, certainly not how they looked. The guy loves what he does and that came across in waves. I dig Sinatra now for similar reasons. And for the fact that he gave credit to the music makers: he always named the songwriters and arrangers when he performed.

By kingpossum on Dec 4, 2016

  8. ill always love classic rock so many young memories, just that ive discovered other great music too, love jazz as well, miles, coltrane, monk, parker as well as billie holliday and jazz singers like johnny hartman and june christy,so much i still havent discovered ,honestly dont mean to sound like boom, boom but i dont really care for todays modern music although im sure some is very good, much of it sounds computerized and superficial but thats just me, im sure many others like it

By Chuck in Texas on Dec 4, 2016

  9. actually, if you want to listen to “modern music”, the first, and best, step: turn off the radio. the rest of the world of music is right there at your fingertips. do your own seeking and don’t listen to what ‘others’ have decided you should listen to. it’s a ‘trick’ i’m glad i learned many years ago…

    By 23rdDjin on Dec 4, 2016

  10. its been said many times, the problem isnt that theres no good music anymore, its just not properly promoted like in the past. Artists have to bust their butts nowadays with constant touring and word of mouth .The radio stations and most other media prefers to promote garbage which is too bad,Recently got into My morning jacket and New Pornographers .both very good bands ,someone suggested them to me and was shocked to learn that they had been around for years.had to discover them by word of mouth instead of the radio .dont understand why this stuff cant be more mainstream instead of all the trash

By Antonio on Dec 4, 2016

  11. our parents and the generation before us baby boomers hated our music, cut that long hair off and listen to real music they would say, many of us now hate what todays young people listen to,always been that way.our best memories come from our teens and twenties before lifes responsibilities take over.must admit though as i get older i also like the music of my parents more,my son also likes my music as well as some modern stuff so thats good

By Zeke on Dec 4, 2016

  12. I’ve seen this same conversation and the same conclusion many times in the comments at big-o. it sounds like you’re seeking current validation for your retrograde, caveman taste in music. one thing is certain-this is one of the premiere geezer rock sites on the web and its frequented by a grizzled bunch of dinosaurs. who listens to the radio and why would you want to?

By snoozer on Dec 4, 2016

  13. Cmon now ! The variety here at BigO is always great and the sound quality as well. I’ve discovered many artists through BigO across many genres of music. Sunday Jazz anyone ?

By TDC on Dec 4, 2016

  14. well…other than jazz most music that started after 1990 is ignored here, and ive only seen a couple offerings of music that started after 2000 in 5 years so I guess i’d have to agree. big o is a retro site but that’s great if you’re looking for that type of music.

By quincy on Dec 4, 2016

  15. snoozer- my local radio station plays a good mix of new music, alt country, and the “retrograde caveman” music u insult. thats why i listen to them, plus theyre commercial free. i appreciate that i dont need to subscribe to satellite radio and buy a tuner to hear good music in the car or at work. i can always listen to any number of good radio stations online for a greater variety of music. ive always enjoyed listening to a good DJ. and of course theres my iPod filled with my favorite older music and newer stuff.

i dont come here for validation for my taste in music i come here for good music and to read the insights people post in between the unfortunate troll fests.

i dont really care if some wet behind the ears narrow minded whippersnapper doesnt appreciate a lot of what the fine folks at bigO post i just figure that eventually that whippersnapper will mature and realize that the newer bands have been listening to older bands including the retrograde geezers who essentially invented almost everything worthwhile in music of all types. your favorite new bands didnt just pick up instruments one day and create something new and original they were influenced by older bands who were in turn influenced by their predecessors and their predecessors, etc.

drop the snark and open your mind dude.

By barth on Dec 4, 2016

  16. More lecturing by barth, just what we wanted.

By Joseph Smith on Dec 5, 2016

  17. barth has been one of the most consistently good poster around here for years .You`d do well to reread his post.

By sluggo on Dec 5, 2016

  18. barth-yawn I’ve read your tired screed too many times, I have an extensive classic rock collection HOWEVER i’m more interested in new sounds than hearing the music of my formative years ad infinitum. whippersnapper??? next you’ll want to wash someones mouth with soap

By snoozer on Dec 5, 2016

  19. Snoozer have you met Barth, our resident kranky windbag?

By loma prieta on Dec 5, 2016

  20. Again, I don’t think its any secret but big ozine is a classic rock site with jazz and new shows by old artists and its great for what it is…not something worth arguing about

By quincy on Dec 5, 2016

  21. there doesn’t seem to be much interest among various blogs and forums (thus possibly general public as well) of bootlegging many newer artists.

    By 23rdDjin on Dec 5, 2016

  22. glad i could help Joseph!

    appreciate the intro loma!

thanks for the shoutout snoozer i’ll work on my brevity and brio.

believe it or dont i do listen to a fair amount of the “new sounds” (thats where radio helps) and while most of it is well crafted the vast majority just do not have the creativity or originality of the older artists, imho. they just dont move me man, not like the geezers did when i first heard them and not like they still do after all these spins.

so… im curious snoozer… what “new sounds” are u listening to that u would recommend to an author of tired screeds and his fellow grizzled dinosaurs? i for one would certainly be interested in any music that even comes close to Sinatra, The Who, Leon Russell, Dr. John, Dire Straights and other recent offers by “one of the premiere geezer rock sites on the web”. seriously.

oh and by the way… stay off my lawn, kid!

By barth on Dec 5, 2016

  23. Now, if Frank had a step stool, and Mia’s tongue was 2 inches longer….well, you know where I’m goin’ with this ;)

  24. Nuff this shit , let’s talk dicks

By Harry Reems on Dec 5, 2016

  25. Could it be that more modern artists are not bootlegged as much because they ain’t worth a shit ? Snoozer consider that ! Get off my lawn

By Eli on Dec 5, 2016

  26. It’s been said by me and others that good modern musical artists can’t catch a break because of no or bad promotion ! Obviously like most here I prefer classic rock but also would love to hear live recordings of Neko Case , as well as her old band New pornographors , My morning jacket is another , sure there are many more great bands that I don’t know if because media / radio / TV won’t play their music preferring instead of to give us more Miley and Beiber shit as well as the hip hop gangsta rap that has decayed music and society in general for almost 3 decades now , Dumb stupid shows like American idol / The voice where Miley porn queen now resides as a GULP Judge and danceing with the Stars have all contributed to the glut of shit and dumbing down of society! Contrast that itch the Sullivan show , other variety show from the sixties and seventies where rock artists and musicians made appearances as well as the Kirshner and Midnight Special shows and there you have it ! Also radio didn’t just play garbage but great music as well , Have yet to hear any station play Neko Case but Miley , Beiber and hip hop are everywhere Also try finding many Neko live shows on line or Phonographors and it seems they don’t exist once again the media is to blame for this

    By Corey M on Dec 5, 2016

  27. Maybe snoozer would prefer some Miley Cyrus or Justin Beiber bootlegs , they certainly are contemporary

By Eli on Dec 5, 2016

  28. Maybe snoozer would prefer some Miley or Beiber shows , also some Taylor swift , Britney Spears oh scratch that she’s getting long in the tooth now !

By Eli on Dec 5, 2016

  29. hmmm why don’t you just ask if theres anything as good as the beatles? studio stuff i’m listening to this week-brad mehldau-taming the deagon, tiles-pretending to run, fleece-scavenger, snarky puppy-sylva, chromakey-graveyard mountain home, seven impale-contrapasso.

By snoozer on Dec 5, 2016

  30. live stuff i’m listening to currently; deerhunter-2009/9/13, amplifier-2015/4/22, waterboys-1986/6/20, TV on the radio-2015/5/17, UFO-1993/12/16 the Michael Schenker lineup reunion

By snoozer on Dec 5, 2016

  31. oh yeah remember that shuggie Otis show that was posted here some time ago? I liked it and got inspiration information by shuggie, listen to it often-the point is I come here to find old stuff, nothing inherently wrong with that. I just don’t like to hear that there isn’t good new music-theres tons if you want to hear it, and my favorites list of new music bootleg sites is a mile long. honestly theres so many…

By snoozer on Dec 5, 2016

  32. can’t forget to mention - on&off the road, the 11 disc box by 1980’s era king crimson. kind of expensive but its that awesome, studio takes, live, rehearsals, remastered 80’s discs etc

By Ken Kitter on Dec 6, 2016

  41. These nuts are late to be on your chin, snoozer.

I’d be snoozin’ too if I listened to boring Brad Mehldau, tedious Tiles, flaccid Fleece, sleepy Snarky Puppy and whoeverthefuck else you mentioned. You might as well join in on the dick size discussions coz you don’t know shit about music. That idiot Corey M knows more about music than you do snoozer, and he’s not stupid enough to insult people then brag about listening to crap!

Shuggie Otis, King Crimson, Michael Schenker, UFO, Waterfuckingboys, damn that’s some real cutting edge avant gardy way out shit you be listening to snoozer! No one will ever call YOU a grizzled dinosaur after seeing that band list!

By ChumbaWumba on Dec 6, 2016

  44. Barth , I’m quite supprised to see you engage in the troll wars , to me you have always seemed to be above the craziness that goes on here , Believe one of your phrases has been don’t feed the trolls so I’m a little taken back by the back and forth here , not from most of the other usual suspects but supprised that you would engage them . The thought has crossed my mind that maybe it’s someone else pretending to be you as that goes on here as well otherwise I hope that you haven’t taken the attitude of if you can’t beat them join them , That would be a shame as there are so few sane people commenting here , you being one or so I thought , You can’t express an opinion here without opening yourself up for attack , something I learned early on

By Chuck in Texas on Dec 6, 2016

  45. Regardless of what your opinion is someone will take offense , As I’ve said before , Say thanks to Big O for the music , listen and or download and the. Move on , another option is ban the comments as they really offer no insight as every comment is just someone’s opinion

By Chuck in Texas on Dec 6, 2016

  46. Leave it to the trolls to get rid of all of the sane people here,Sluggo,Cool Hand.Chuck,Camper,Skinned Knees,Bruce Skywalker,Corey M sometimes except when he gets political and now Barth,Ive noticed that these sane people comment less and less,a testament to the fact that the wackos are taking over.Im sure most of the intelligent sane people are fed up with the trollfest

    Chuck- nobodys perfect ;-)

By barth on Dec 6, 2016

  49. moron; so who said that stuff was avant garde??? I just listed what ive been listening to for the past week or so, not what I believe to be “cutting edge”. yeah I know, your nuts are avant garde, your nuts have been listening for a week, you believe your nuts to be avant garde, your nuts are cutting edge-1 thing your nuts are not is clever.

By snoozer on Dec 6, 2016

  50. George taylor-that sounds about as valid as discussing the monkees/Hendrix or john McLaughlin…again. anyone here want to talk about music?

By snoozer on Dec 6, 2016

  51. i’ll talk about music- i just listened to snarky puppy’s latest album “Culcha Vulcha” and im thoroughly underwhelmed. i listened with an open mind snoozer and it aint for me.

while the musicians involved are very proficient nothing is memorable or makes me want to listen again or dl their previous albums. i could only make it halfway through several songs. theres very little fire here.

its some sort of soulless jazz/rock fusion that works well as background music for romantic comedy movies. im almost certain that this was the music playing in “devil wears prada” when anne hathaway tried on new clothes and also as the closing credits rolled.

perhaps too many cooks have spoiled their broth. the small combos always had strong leaders, there might be too much diplomacy here. grandpa barth will be sticking with “bitches brew” jeff beck & jan hammer and other related geezers.

  56. u were right snoozer im surprised- snarky puppy’s “Culcha Vulcha” is really nothing special. the musicians and arrangements are good but very little stands out. i couldnt make it to the end on too many songs.

i can see this working very well in romantic comedy movies. this would be effective background music in “the devil wears prada” when andrea discovered designer clothes and while the closing credits rolled.

perhaps there is too much consideration for all the bandmates. smaller combos (grizzled dinosaurs to u) always had strong leaders and made much more vital music.

  72. that’s great you took the time to listen to something unknown, but I don’t really care what you think about it-my point is that there is a wealth of music available that you haven’t heard and whatever year you think music died, it didn’t. its possible that the 1960’s prototypical 4 man unit with lead, bass, drums and often keyboards is going the way of the barbershop quartet but change is inevitable. its a peculiar phenomenon but most people seem to be able to accept the music that came before them but have a problem with what comes after…should I write this to moron first or can I just go direct??

  73. …yawn… so the troll makes an accusation and if accused ignores him, the troll says that his silence proves that hes guilty. if the accused denies the accusation the troll says hes lying…

so lomo it appears that Harry Carlos Ken Joseph Dino and snoozer are taking up the same causes as u are therefore… i suppose im also several other people who have had the same problem with repetitive comments because they didnt appear the first time… be sure to keep a list of them for future accusations. how has your job writing fake news for the internet been working out?

snoozer thats great that u dont care what people think about your favorite bands unless they agree with you. its a peculiar phenomenon but some people just cant accept the fact that the second third forth generation just isnt as innovative as the first. be sure to tell glenn miller duke ellington and count basie about your barbershop quartet theory. should i write this to lomo first or Harry Ken Joseph Carlos or Dino?? make a snowflake in the foam on my latte grande thanks.

have a good holiday guys… or should i say guy?

in other news… the Oxford American magazine has just published their annual Southern Music issue. this years theme is “Blues”. accompanying their usual first rate writing and photography is a 23 track compilation CD of blues singers old and new. its available on their web site or in bookstores. u young whippersnappers can ask your grizzled old grandpas to explain what a bookstore is ;-)

  74. barth youv’e made a plenty of putdown comments to other postersbut you sure can’t take it youself.

By Hairy Barth on Dec 8, 2016

  75. My earlier comments stand , some may consider all of this back and forth troll bantering entertaining but seriously folks is it really necessary or informative , Look at how many comments are in this post and how hardly any have anything to do with Frank Sinatra , his music that is . This is really more like an online version of the Jerry Springer show the only difference being that words and name calling are used instead of people pushing each other and rolling on the floor .whether this is just a few people or many acting this way is irrelevant , The ratings are through the roof , it’s becoming must see TV , people competing to see who can make the dumbest and in some cases the most vulgar comments , I have noticed some of the seemingly sane regulars comment less and less lately indicating that they are tired of the insanity , but fear not folks for every sane poster that leaves 5 wackos are there to take their place , either that or one person with 5 identities not that it really matters , Only in today’s world would people behave this way , Look at me is the word of the day in today’s reality TV world , very sad indeed

  80. Barth and sluggo - I haven’t checked on them lately, but if you haven’t heard of reelradio.com, you ought to go there and join up - cheap annual club fee. Something like 1,700 “aircheck” recordings of TOP 40 most 1 hr in length of DJs from all over the US and Canada from the 50’s to about mid-eighties, most unscoped, meaning most have the songs included. These have many famous DJs, such as Real Don Steele, Robert W. Morgan, Don Imus, Wolfman Jack, and so forth. Really fun stuff!

  84. If it isn’t Needle Dick The Bug Fucker, aka Harry Reems! How’s it hanging, Tiny? Like a cigarette? Remember the time you watched me bang Linda Lovelace standing up and I spun her like a propeller on my giant wang? You were so jealous, like a little bitch! How about the time I punched a hole in the back of your mom’s head when I fucked her mouth? Ahh she got over it eventually, she slurs and drools a lot though, but she was pretty stupid anyway. I see you talking any more shit here I’ll beat you to death with my johnson. You know I can do it too, shorty.

  87. So Moron , how did I taste? Want some more? I’ll try to ease it in slower next time and take it easy on your tonsils , sorry that my nuts couldn’t reach your chin , us well endowed guys have that problem , Linda says hi

By Harry Reems on Dec 9, 2016

  88. Nice try, Needle Dick, but you just don’t measure up. Linda, Marilyn, Vanessa and your mom all said so.

By John C. Holmes on Dec 9, 2016

  89. These nuts are measuring up just fine on your chin John, your mom said so.

By John C. Moron on Dec 9, 2016

  90. Moron.your technique was much better this time ,the teeth wernt a factor and i took it slower on you.,loved it when you tickeled the fat head of my big cock with your tongue before you took as much of it as you could, nuts still couldnt hit your chin though, thats what happens when you suck on a 12 incher,i could see how much you loved it when i moaned loud as i blew my hot load down your throat, guess you took lindas advise, want 3rds figured i would travel down your hershey canal and give you a protein enama

By Harry Reems on Dec 10, 2016

  91. Harry reems his dick down morons throat , gotta love it

By Stickum Steve on Dec 10, 2016

  92. Harry, it’s good to see that you’re so comfortable with your homosexuality that you’re willing to share your fantasies. I hope you’ve finally accepted that your dick will always be four inches shorter than mine. Don’t take it personally that Linda, Marilyn, Vanessa and so many other women were so unhappy with you after I banged them. That was what drove you to the guys, right Needle Dick? See you around, Shorty.

By John C. Holmes on Dec 11, 2016

  93. I fucked both Harry Reems and John Holmes,Johns was slightly longer but Harry was bigger around and you know what us girls like ? girth over length every time baby, nice to be filled up and streched

By Tracey Lords on Dec 11, 2016

  94. Harry was the biggest, after all no one else could be my costar in Deep Throat

By Linda Lovelace on Dec 11, 2016

  95. No one wanted to be your costar, Linda just a needle dicked loser who was tired of the gay bathhouse scene and thought that the way to become a “star” was to fuck a drugged out mob whore who would have been shot in the head if she refused to suck tiny cock on film. You were paid about $250 and they made millions, right? Tough titty babe.

By John C. Holmes on Dec 11, 2016

  96. Harry all thw way bABY,needle dick, are you for real.it was so fat my hand couldnt even get halfway around it,long too 12 inches, only downside is that it was so fat it wouldnt fit in my asshole, felt great in my pussy though.oh the multiple orgasims i felt by being streched to the max.john holmes was big too but was always to stoned or drunk to keep it hard.harry never had that problem

By The Moron on Dec 11, 2016

  101. Marilyn, I had trouble getting it up with you because your pussy was so goddam smelly I thought you shat in the bed! As soon as you spread your legs that toxic emission almost made me puke! Harry was used to that stank because of all the rimjobs he gave in the gay bathhouses.

By John C. Holmes on Dec 11, 2016

  108. You WERE the Ivory Snow girl, Marilyn. They should have paid you with crates of it instead of checks, then your stinky slit would have been much more appetizing to anyone other than Harry Rimjob Reems.

And hey! Look at the big brain on Rick! He probably subscribes to every fake news site he can find!

By John C. Holmes on Dec 12, 2016

  109. And hey! Look at these big nuts on your chin, Holmes. Reems/Holmes shutup already.

By John C. Moron on Dec 12, 2016

  110. Moron ,you may think your fooling people with your Holmes impersonation then your insult afterwards .Another of your many identities here no doubt. The pathetic thing is that you are not even very good at it ,so obvious. Are you a middle schooler? you sure do behave like one.every one of your many identities you are so transparent that its a joke.LOSER

By Eli Moron on Dec 12, 2016

  114. Paul, I think it is meant to be a music site, but interesting you asked. Seems every frustrated psychopath around just can’t help ‘emselves, but fuck it up for everyone else who might have a reasonable comment to make.
