New York 2016 [no label, 1CD]

Live at St Ignatius Loyola, New York, NY; December 2, 2016 (broadcast on December 21, 2016). Very good FM.

Based in San Francisco, California, Chanticleer is a full-time male classical vocal ensemble in the United States. Over the last three decades, it has developed a major reputation for its interpretations of Renaissance music, but it also performs a wide repertoire of jazz, gospel, and other venturesome new music and is widely known as an “Orchestra of Voices”. It was named for the “clear singing rooster” in Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales. - wikipedia

Christmas is our favorite time of year, when we accompany your holiday season with joy and tranquility in music old, new, and familiar. Nanino, Byrd, Praetorious, Gabrieli, Villette and Poulenc are among the composers who wrote of what happened at the manger; Joseph Jennings, Robert Shaw, Alice Parker and Robert de Cormier are among those who have made beloved arrangements of popular carols and songs. Seasonal anthems and carols by Americans from Billings to Ives to Steven Sametz will make for a classically rich and resplendent Chanticleer Christmas. -

  4. Hey Carl, David Lewis manages Zion80, a band bigo tried to post the other day. He demanded BigO take the link down, and they did. You can tell who the greedy ones are (the only people I recall having done this are the Eagles, Led Zep, some (but not all) Dylan, a Stephen Stills show and Pat Metheney (maybe a Hillary Hahn performance with the Dallas orchestra). And Boom Boom, glad you came out from under the chimney with your meaningless garbage but where was it yesterday when we needed it?

  6. bang & boom-its rather unseemly for a 59 year old man to behave as you do , whats wrong with you that you think this is still funny? you were absent for a day or two and it was refreshing to see big-o free of your bullshit

  8. I thought we would get thru this Joyous Season without hearing from the the SAD few of this world! You all know the more attention we give to the those few the more they feed. Hold your tongue and pass them bye for they will truly see their just reward. It would be such a pleasure to bring back the enthusiast and lovers of the beauty of music in all genres.
Pass Along a little kindness this season
