JULIA HOLTER
Germany 2016 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Haldern Pop Festival, Rees-Haldern, Germany; August 13, 2016. Very good FM broadcast.

There might be something reminiscent of The Roches in the layered vocals but Kate Bush comes more to mind when listening to American singer-songwriter Julia Holter. And anyone who can give a sensuous yet mournful reading to Hello Stranger (a Barbara Lewis song that is probably better associated with Yvonne Elliman) is worth checking out. Holter might be relatively little known though she has collaborated with other musicians, including Nite Jewel, Ducktails, Linda Perhacs, Michael Pisaro and Jean-Michel Jarre.

On March 31, 2017, Holter will release her new live album, In The Same Room, via a new imprint of Domino called Domino Documents. The new Documents imprint will feature “live studio recordings designed to capture the ever-evolving arrangements” of bands signed to Domino. The new live album is named after a song from Holter’s 2012 album, Ekstasis.

  11. Hey moron, where did you learn how to spell? Obviously you wake up every day thinking about balls and unable to think of anything original. I guess your momma must have sone kind of genetic problem to have given birth to a dumb shit like you. How is the whore doing? Does she miss your nuts on her chin?

  12. I think the moron is off kicking his dog at the moment after so seriously being shown up for what he is, the gutless little prick.
Maybe one day we can get back to discussing music again?

By Trevor on Mar 22, 2017

  13. Trevor , these huge nuts are seriously bouncing on your chin and that’s not open for discussion

By Trevor Moron on Mar 22, 2017

  14. You people all get what you deserve, this Moron faggott as well as the blabbermouths who complain about all the trolls here . Simply say thank you to big o for the music and say nothing else or better yet don’t say anything at all , bet the trolls would go away then . Just by expressing any opinion at all feeds the trolls but you all know that don’t you that’s why none of you will shut up . Deep down you love this shit , if you didn’t you would all shut up and just download the great music here

By Derrick on Mar 22, 2017

  15. Thanks, Big O! I wouldn’t have heard of this artist if you hadn’t posted this.
