  2. Nothing here from one of Lou’s bands The Assholes. I don’t think they ever recorded anything though, because they were such huge assholes they couldn’t write together or decide which songs to cover.

Other members of the band were Gene Simmons, Ted Nugent, Don Henley, and Chuck Berry.

  3. Here’s a post actually about the music. The 58 and 62 numbers were pretty legit for their time, well produced. That last LP was low budget in comparison. Funny, it’s really the same band with all different names. Should have just called themselves The Alias Band. Tiger in my tank, lion on the wheel? Did Exxon steal that? The Primitives must have been Proto-punk, I guess. No hint of Lewis’s future greatness here. Glad he got it out of his system.

  4. I would say that the two Robertha Williams songs are stellar! stick a Motown sticker on it and they are each #1 back in 65! Compare to the Ronnie Dickerson numbers - good, but loses energy. Could have grown into a great singer, if worked with.

  5. With you all the way ScarRad and thanks for this Big O, I thought I pretty much had all of this but not so! Love me some early Lou and that he wrote worthy of Irma Thomas will do fer me!
    Thanks

  6. Thanks for the peek into Lou’s Garage. I’m not a huge fan of LR/VU; but roots like this are always of interest. If there is one gem in the mine, the listen will be worthwhile. More Comps please - that recent 4cd Eric compilation was very cool.

  18. This might be the best thing Big O has ever posted. Lot of this stuff I’ve never heard before or even knew existed — and big sound upgrades on the Primitives stuff, compared to the vinyl and everything else I’ve heard. Thanks very much for this!

  25. Thank you BigO for posting this. Never knew about any of these.

Ban the troll(s). Makes reading the comments more of a kindergardenish ranting from an immature idiot. Everyone will agree (except the idiot). And just to prove the point, that same idiot will reply to this with more lame and stupid ranting.
