LED ZEPPELIN
Rampaging Cajun [Empress Valley 534/535/536, 3CD]

Live at the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, February 28, 1975. Very good soundboard.

The soundboard version of this show has just surfaced - previous versions were audience recordings. A big thank you to Amduscia; and to scutly who shared the lossless tracks on the Dime site; and thanks to kream1 for the artwork.

For those who need a bit of refreshing, Led Zep’s 1975 tour took place about two years since the group last toured and, as the wiki pointed out, “as a result, some critics have suggested that the band seemed sluggish and rusty upon their return to the stage, with the group lacking dynamics and giving rather ‘heavy’ performances.”

Barely four days earlier, Led Zep released the Physical Graffiti album and songs from the album which were played for the first time on this tour included Sick Again, In My Time of Dying, Kashmir and Trampled Under Foot.

But more importantly - and for those who can afford - here’s a note on the Dime site:

We’re all some of the luckiest people in the world. We’re members of a vibrant international community. We enjoy music, we have internet connections and even if we struggle for it, we have the things that make life more than just a subsistence affair.

As a community, Dime would like to offer support and help to the earthquake victims in Haiti.

For one week (beginning as of today, Thursday, January 14, 2010, and ending at next Wednesday, January 20, 2010) all donations made to Dime will be forwarded to a charity organisation (Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft, a consortium of the five German charity organizations Brot für die Welt, medico international, Misereor, terre des hommes and Welthungerhilfe) for use in the Haiti Earthquake relief efforts.

Your Dime account will be granted VIP status accordingly, but all funds collected during this period will help earthquake victims.

Please support this community effort according to your ability.

Thank you very much in advance!

  2. Thanks to BIG O for sharing this; and those of you who haven’t yet sent at least $10 to the relief of earthquake victims, don’t just think about it - DO IT NOW!! These people need help now. It is a terrible tragedy, devastation beyond the scope of imagination. Every little bit helps.

  6. Beautiful Relic… I heard the average hissy audience tape from vinyl for years, light years ahead. Thanks for sharing more crystal sounding shows from the amazing Zep,

‘75 was definitely a year where Zep wore the crown as royalty in Rock & Roll. Another time machine request to travel back to these shows… When legends walked the earth! Peace from Woodstock - T

  10. Let me add my thanks for this concert.
I know that flac files should sound better, but to my ears this is excellent.
Plus flacs take up so much space on the hard drive.
    So keep up the Zep

  12. A new Zep soundboard recording is always welcome news, but this show doesn’t really thrill me like some others from the 1975 Tour. I particularly like the L.I. Valentine’s Day show, the St. Louis concert and San Diego Californication. Zep recordings, though are kind of like the old joke about sex and pizza, when they’re good they’re real good and when they’re bad they’re still pretty good. Thanks for the post.

  15. BLIMEY!! thanx. One of the better gigs, even poor Percy’s losing battle between the backline amps and his monitors comes out a draw, and Page’s roadie manages to tune his gtrs before he takes them on stage! Bonzo yelling at his monitor guy while Plant goes through his 75 tour between songs script, I saw them that year at Earls Court and Knebworth and even if i have to ignore half of Plant’s lyrics, WHAT A F***ING GLORIOUS RACKET,LOVE IT. GIVE MONEY.PEACE

  16. One of their best shows! I listened with my jaw somewhat open for a long time. Pagey did amazing things in the studio with ZO, and what these guys pulled off live isn’t far removed from it. The e-check’s in the MAIL!

  20. This is incredible! I was at that concert. Brings back so many memories that were a bit fuzzy, but one I do remember is that they opened this concert, Baton Rouge 2/28/75, with In the Light. That memory is as clear as day. Why doesn’t the recording start with In the Light?
