God’s Holiday [no label, CD1/2 of 16]

Various dates and venues. Broadcasts and other rarities. Fairly good soundboard and radio broadcasts.

Waiting for this stuff to be released is like waiting for God to take a holiday.

The Incredible String Band (sometimes abbreviated as ISB) were a psychedelic folk band formed by Clive Palmer, Robin Williamson and Mike Heron in Scotland in 1966. The band built a considerable following, especially in the British counterculture, notably with their albums The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion, The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter, and Wee Tam and the Big Huge. They became pioneers in psychedelic folk and, through integrating a wide variety of traditional music forms and instruments, in the development of world music. Following Palmer’s early departure, Williamson and Heron performed as a duo, later augmented by other musicians. The band split up in 1974. They reformed in 1999 and continued to perform with changing lineups until 2006.- wikipedia

  3. I’ve been trying to find this for years! Are you planning on putting up all the discs from this collection. If you are, it is very much appreciated by me.

  4. Interesting.
Waiting to see if it’ll contain any of the Woodstock recordings.
50th anniversary coming up and I’d like to complete my collection.
    I’m about 90%.
If anybody has any of the Woodstock tracks other than the common ones, let me know.

  6. Fantastic! Thanks Big O. Loved ISB from the outset have pretty much everything officially released and saw them a few times over the years. The last time in Leicester in the ‘No Ruinous Feud’ days when Licorice had just left being replaced by Malcolm Le Maistre, mid-seventies I think. Mike Heron’s still playing and his ‘Smiling Men With Bad Reputations’ album is a favourite still and worth looking out for. They all hold a special place in my heart!
    Thank yooo! ;)

  8. THANK YOU! This is amazing stuff for guitarists, and the songs are great. You can hear The Beatles joking about the Incredible String Band while chatting in the studio during the “Get Back/Let It Be” sessions.

And I thought I was the only person who liked “Smiling Men with Bad Reputations”!Another illusion shattered…
