Saxophone Special. Live in East Berlin, Germany; March 28, 1978. Very good soundboard.

The Berlin Wall fell 11 years later in 1989.

Peter Brotzmann, from Germany, is among the most important European free jazz musicians. His rough timbre is easily recognized on his many recordings.

  2. What does “rough timbre” mean? Is it that he can’t play anything resembling a riff or a tune?

I have to confess I’m not interested in this sort of stuff. Thank you any way BigO but on this occasion I’ll skip downloading and ask @U L E, @Rock Chick Traci, @Bebe and @Pamela des Barre[i]s if they ever played this guy’s insrtrument sax.

  7. In no way is this abomination even close to real Jazz . Old school jazz and s the only jazz and that died after Miles made that god awful bitches brew with the hack McLaughlin. Jazz never recovered.

  8. Blacks are the only jazz masters . Leave it to the brothers or leave it alone. No white honky can play jazz . No Arabs or Asian fuckers either just the brothers

  12. Wow! Spectacular stuff Bigozine, you did it again! Many, many thanks indeed. Brotzman is a true force of nature and he’s performing here with some great fellow free-players. Not music for everybody - and certainly not something likely to be appreciated by those of limited aesthetic sensibilities or a profound lack of adventure and imagination (hi there Smashmouth) not to mention the self-loathing morons who usually post nonsense here.
