THE INCREDIBLE STRING BAND
God’s Holiday [no label, CD13/14 of 16]

Various dates and venues. Broadcasts and other rarities. Fairly good soundboard and radio broadcasts.

Waiting for this stuff to be released is like waiting for God to take a holiday.

The Incredible String Band (sometimes abbreviated as ISB) were a psychedelic folk band formed by Clive Palmer, Robin Williamson and Mike Heron in Scotland in 1966. The band built a considerable following, especially in the British counterculture, notably with their albums The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion, The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter, and Wee Tam and the Big Huge. They became pioneers in psychedelic folk and, through integrating a wide variety of traditional music forms and instruments, in the development of world music. Following Palmer’s early departure, Williamson and Heron performed as a duo, later augmented by other musicians. The band split up in 1974. They reformed in 1999 and continued to perform with changing lineups until 2006. - wikipedia

  3. Thanks Big O - nearly there now and this is such a treat! I made a point last time for vols11/12 that perhaps it was for completists only but then that volume despite the omitted tracks and leaving the intros in, which someone else mentioned was a tad odd (sic) but actually that volume had some towering stuff on the quality for example from the set broadcast by WLIR at Hempstead Not Yoik is just excellent [listen to ‘Log Cabin Home in the Sky’ if you don’t believe me for example - oh, and for musos here try following the time signature of that one!]
    Truly fascinating document
    Fank yoooo!
