Boston 1996 [no label, 2CD]

Live at The Paradise, Boston, MA ; May 20, 1996. Very good FM broadcast (officially released recordings removed).

For anyone looking to have a complete collection of all the FM shows from which the 1996 Coslello & Nieve box set were sourced.

Thanks to bigtuna842 for sharing the show at Dime.

bigtuna842 noted:

I obtained this show many years ago (circa 2004), I believe via an early download or torrent. I no longer have the original FLACs or info file so this is a rip from my CDs of the show (ripped to WAV using CDex, converted to FLAC (Level 8) via TLH).

I’ve removed several tracks which were officially released on the “Live At The Paradise, Boston” promo CD and later on the “Costello & Nieve” box set. My original CDs split “God’s Comic” into three tracks (Part 1 > Narration > Part 2). They also tracked “Oliver’s Army” separately from the song snippets played at the end of that song. Here, I’ve combined those split tracks using Audacity so they are tracked as performed. No other edits were made.

All thanks go to the taper and original uploader, whose generosity made it possible for me to offer this up today to celebrate the 23rd birthday of this music… Enjoy!

  2. Once again several omissions here , just like the last recently posted Costello show . Once again I’ll pass on it . A shame that the powers that be feel this is necessary.

  8. Thank you for this show. I bought those earlier recordings and enjoyed them (still do). I appreciate the opportunity now to hear even more and I understand and support Bigozine’s philosophy not to provide tracks that were officially released. I’ll enjoy what was provided. Thanks again.

  9. IDC , where did you purchase the tracks ? For the life of me I can’t find hardly anything in stores anymore, especially decades old recordings. Our local Barnes and Noble and Best Buy music depts are manned by teens and twenty somethings who’s music horizons rarely extend past Taylor Swift and the latest hip hop tunes .

  10. Gone are the days of the neighborhood record shops that carried everything you would want and usually the guy that worked there was knowledgeable and many times a musician himself. That’s what’s so frustrating. I’m not against paying for music if I can find it . Afraid to shop on line, too many scams and attempts at financial and identity theft . First hand experience there .

I saw this show and have the officially released tracks, but having more of the show is great. There were more encores that weren’t released or broadcast, but this is most of one the best Elvis Costello shows I’ve been to. Aimee Mann was in the audience.

    Thanks, Big O!

  12. For the Moaners,
The missing parts for the whole box set can be found at:

Bigo has been nice enough to provide the entire shows. You have to do a little work to make the
performances complete with some slicing and dicing and using the BigO file labeling system.Takes a liitle effort but entirely worth it.

  13. Neither Elvis had a very Big Coc . Based on my backstage memories Presley had the biggest of the two . It was 76 though and he was fat and out of shape by then and heavy into dope . He had trouble keeping it up

  14. Costello was actually quite small ( Big disappointment) He was very nice though. And he gave great head .

  15. Bebe . Did Elvis C like the taste of his roadies and band mates ?

  16. For those looking for the missing tracks, all you need do is look at eBay. If the specific EC/SN official release isn’t there now, it will be in the future and it will not be expensive.

And to put a fine point on it, if this site posts tracks that are commercially released, it can get shut down for copyright infringement. It’s that simple.

  17. If you’re going to pretend to be Bebe Buell, know what you’re talking about. She had a long term affair with Elvis Costello in the early 80s. She moved to Portland, Maine after the birth of her daughter Liv Tyler. I saw Elvis Costello play Portland City Hall with Squeeze and Nick Lowe in 1984; she watched the show from the side of the stage. If you can go to the trouble of pretending to be six different people on this site, you might as well not be boring and stupid. Do some research! Racism and cock jokes aren’t really trolling-most 7th graders are better at that stuff than you are. Here’s a good article about what Bebe Buell is up to these days:

  19. Why give U L E and Bebe a forum to prove they’re arrested adolescents? These two (unless they’re one in the same)must be a smash with the 3rd grade boys. Enough! Repetitious and boring. Sad.
