HOLLY COLE
+ Her Quartet
Leverkusen 2005 [no label, 2CD]

Live
at the Forum, 26. Jazztage, Leverkusen, Germany; November 12, 2005. Very good FM broadcast.

Acclaimed Canadian vocalist Holly Cole isn’t an artist who falls into any single category. Her smoky voice is sultry, yet she’s ironically humorous and candid while reshaping traditional standards and pop classics. Jazz is her bedrock, but not exclusively. It’s a sound that helped build her a loyal fan base after she emerged on the Toronto jazz scene in the 1980s. Although jazz standards have remained a staple in her discography, she’s also branched out into folk, rock, and country, covering songs by Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, and more. - allmusic.com

  3. Nice version of “Allison” but not as good as Linda Ronstadt’s.

By Mark on Oct 20, 2019

  4. Wasn’t Alison originally by Elvis Costello? Maybe a different song not sure .

By Bill on Oct 20, 2019

  5. This is very good music .but at the risk of stirring up Smashmouth , I don’t know that I would classify it as jazz .

By Bill on Oct 20, 2019

  6. This woman’s voice sounds like fingernails on a chauk board . Terribly irritating voice . She butchers the Beatles I’ve just seen a face .

By Pat Grooms on Oct 20, 2019

  7. Bill - same song. Written by Elvis for his debut back in ‘77. A classic

Not sure about this lass at all. Rarely agree with Mr Grooms but this doesn’t float my boat at all! Hey ho, each to their own hey?

  8. More NFL or Nigger Football League games today folks . Don’t know about the rest of you but I’m sick and tired of seeing these ugly baboons act like savages. I remember when the game was mostly white and players acted like gentlemen both on and off the field even the niggers , cause back then you was accountable for your behavior. These days niggers are free to act like baboons in a cage

  9. Goddamn I’m sick of this shit ‘ celebrating after every touchdown ‘ showing up your opponent, all this goddamn in your face crap . Mr Starr . Mr Unitas and Mr Staubach never behaved that way . Neither did niggers like Jim Brown and Gale Sayers . Everyone acted like gentleman back then . God damn these athletes today .

By Jerry Disher on Oct 20, 2019

  10. Jerry ‘ the black ape niggers knew their place back in the sixties and seventies. Also everyone of every race was more respectful. We can thank Lyndon Baines Johnson for getting the ball rolling by signing the civil rights act back in 1964. LBJ was a southern racist who pretended to be a progressive in order to get the black vote to win the presidency over Barry Goldwater. The country has never recovered

By HHH on Oct 20, 2019

  11. I still have my parents old Goldwater/ Miller campaign button from the 64 election. Wonder if it’s worth anything

By HHH on Oct 20, 2019

  12. Remember we had a Goldwater 64 bumper sticker on our 64 Buick Wildcat car . The thing that killed Barry’s campaign was that commercial featuring the little girl picking daisies before the bomb went off . Johnson painted Goldwater as a hothead radical war monger who would start world war 3,. Then he gets elected and escalates the Vietnam war costing billions of dollars and thousands of lives . Yes we can thank LBJ for many things .

By HHH on Oct 20, 2019

  13. I never followed politics much . Remember my parents voting for Goldwater and Nixon in 68 . That watergate stuff soured me on politics. All of them is godamned crooks everyone of them no matter what their party is . Got a rapist in the White House now trump . And had another one in Clinton

By Jerry Disher on Oct 20, 2019

  14. Nigger football is bad enough, now the nba or nigger basketball association is almost ready to go again. Hocky is mostly white but I never got into it . Baseball today has lots of whites but also has Mexicans and other wetbacks and spicks . Plus I don’t like the way they play tge game no more
