PATTI SMITH & FAMILY
Charleston 2018 [no label, 1CD]

Culture Center Theater, Mountain Stage, Charleston, West Virginia; February 11, 2018. Very good audio (ripped from HDTV webcast).

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Patti Smith and her family returned to West Virginia in February 2018 to accept the posthumous induction of her husband Fred “Sonic” Smith into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. While he came to fame in Detroit, Fred Smith was born in Lincoln County, WV. He was a guitarist with influential punk band MC5 and he would marry Patti Smith in 1980.

The two would collaborate throughout their relationship. In 1986, Patti and Fred co-wrote the song that opens this set, “Paths That Cross,” in response to the AIDS epidemic that impacted many of their friends. Introducing the anthem “Because the Night,” Smith says, “Fred and I met in 1976 in Detroit, but because I lived in New York we were fated to have a long distance relationship for a while. I co-wrote this song with Bruce Springsteen, but the words were for Fred.”

Patti is a poet, visual artist, singer and songwriter, and National Book Award winning author. Along with her son Jackson on guitar, daughter Jesse Paris-Smith on piano, and longtime collaborator Lenny Kaye on guitar, the band runs through some of her most well-known songs and collaborations with her husband, including the protest anthem “People Have The Power.”

Mountain Stage Band members Steve Hill, bass, and Ammed Solomon, drums, accompany Patti and her family for this performance. -

  3. Derrick, what do you think of the mike mccarthy hire. Looks like they were looking for someone with experience. I agree the colts threw the super bowl. No way the jets should of beat the mighty colts. I’ll always remember jimmy orr waving his arms wildly and no one within 10 yards of him.just found out that paul manafort is a fuking jew bastard. check out his 15,000 ostrich coat

  7. Anti ‘ Jerrah just won’t be able to get out of his own way . It’s in the bastards DNA. To me McCarthy is a older fatter Jason Garrett without the clappin. Just like Chan Gailey ‘ Dave Campo and Wade Phillips , Jerrah found his self another puppet. McCarthy goes from Aaron Rodgers to Dak ( hi yeller Prescott. That’s like goin from a Mercedes to a motherfuckin Ford . Rodgers was able to make him look better than he was . He’ll be pulling what little hair he has left out once He sees how often Hi Yeller overthrows and underthrows receivers and misses wide open targets too

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  8. Belichick would have been my choice of course but can you imagine Bill workin for Jerrah? He’d tell Jerrah to stuff it after a week . Plus he ain’t never leaving the patriots.

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  9. The last real coach They had was Bill Parcells , and he was putting a real team together, but Jones as always started interfering and the Tuna finally had enough of his shit and retired. It’s been 13 years of mediocrity ever since . The only way the cowboys got a chance to do shit is when Jerrah dies . Then we got to deal with his retarded son Steven. We just can’t get away from the Jonesses

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  10. Yeah Anti , super bowl 3 was fixed . Rosenblum paid Earl Morrall to throw it . My opinion. Rosenblum the jew bastard owed money to the fuckin mob . Shula might have known bout it too. Why did he keep a by then a healthy Unitas on the bench till the 4th quarter ?

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  11. Johnny U missed most of the season with a torn tendon in his throwing arm but was healthy by the end of the season. He even played in the last regular season game against the rams and looked good . Shula went back to Morrall in the playoffs

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  12. Bubba Smith went to his grave thinking it was fixed . Mike Curtis thought it was fishy too . The Jets only scored 16 points . It was because of fuckin Morrall and the offense . Them 4 interceptions in jets territory and deliberately missing Jimmy Orr .

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  13. The colts used that flea flicker pass play to Orr for a touchdown earlier that season against Atlanta so yeah it was planned to fail

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  14. Carroll Rosenblum the jew bastard. later owned the LA Rams . He drowned under suspicious circumstances in 1978 . Some folks think it was the mob others think his trophy wife Georgia Frontiare had him wacked to get his $$$. She owned the rams until she died herself

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  15. To me better coaches for the cowboys would have been Sean Payton’ Mike Zimmer’ Urban Meyer ‘ even Ron Rivera , before the Redskins sighed him while Jeruh was hanging on to Garrett last week . Now we got to settle for the fatter uglier version of the clapper

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  16. It’s gonna be fun to watch though, Wonder what Jerrah will think when they start out 2 and 4 next season. The old motherfuckin buzzard might croak right then

By Derrick on Jan 7, 2020

  17. any chance there is a football site out there where the folk talk music?

By dropkicksarge on Jan 7, 2020

  18. I feel your pain, Sarge…

By DanC on Jan 7, 2020

  19. Parody of the Bonnie Tyler song:

    “It’s a heartache
    Nothing but a fart ache
    fart until your ass breaks
Cracks it right in two, ooh, ooh

    It ain’t right
    to let one rip
    So hard that you shit
    Your pants”

By Mark on Jan 8, 2020

  20. the best coach you had was landry and the best coach i had was shula.

By THE ANTICHRIST on Jan 8, 2020

  21. Derrick, I cant believe the Giants want to interview the clapper for OC

By THE ANTICHRIST on Jan 8, 2020

  22. Anti , to be fair man , and I been thinkin bout this . We’ll never know what kind of fuckin coach Garrett was in Dallas. He basically did what Jerrah wanted him to do . He never said nuthin in interviews. The same boring vanilla speeches to the media . He couldn’t even pick who would play in the games without permission from Jones . Jerrah was always giving injury reports week to week and sayin who was expected to play etc . What other fuckin owner does that she . Garrett was told from day one to smile , clap , be a cheerleader and shut the fuck up.

By Derrick on Jan 8, 2020

  23. Troy Aikman said Garrett was never given a chance to show if he could coach or not . Jerrah basically deballed / nuetered him . In the long run he didn’t do him no favors. Kinda feel sorry for him really. Be interesting to see if he gets another shot to be a head coach and personally, I’d like him to succeed to prove that the problem was and always has been Jerry Jones . It don’t matter who the coach is , as long as Jerruh is there nuthin will ever change

By Derrick on Jan 8, 2020

  24. Garrett had some bad luck in his time there . Romo gettin hurt in the last game in 13 . The officials overturning the Dez catch in the playoff game vs the packers in 14. Romo getting hurt again and missing all of 15. Aaron Rodgers perfect sideline throw on 3rd down to set up the winning field goal in 16. Zekes 6 game suspension in17 . A little luck here and there and it could have been different. I truly believe the team is cursed , ever since Jerrah fired Jimmy Johnson after back to back Super Bowls.

By Derrick on Jan 8, 2020

  25. You fire a coach who wins two straight Super Bowls. What kinda motherfuckin idiot does that ? Well Jerrah, 25 years and counting, no Super Bowls since 95. Season

By Derrick on Jan 8, 2020

  26. Jimmy not Jerry was why they won those super bowl s Jerry’s ego couldn’t stand it .

    By T Curtis on Jan 8, 2020

  27. Been a cowboys fan since the Landry days . Never have been able to stand Jerry Jones
