AMERICA
Hamburg 1995 [no label, 1CD]

Grosse Freiheit 36, Hamburg, Germany; January 31, 1995. Very good FM broadcast.

America was formed in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley. Achieving significant popularity in the 1970s, the trio was famous for its close vocal harmonies and light acoustic folk rock sound. The band released a string of hit albums and singles, many of which found airplay on pop/soft rock stations. Peek left the group in 1977, and their commercial fortunes declined, despite a brief return to the top in 1982 with the single “You Can Do Magic”.

Thanks to timer, who recorded the show; and to edelwolf for sharing it at Dime.

From 1971 to 1974, America released some of their most cherished albums - the self-titled America, Homecoming, Hat Trick and Holiday. Rhino Records released The Complete Greatest Hits in 2001 which picks out many of the popular songs from those four albums. Order it here.

  2. Thanks for this, listening to one of my faves on the band, “Daisy Jane.” Gerry Beckley is in fine voice here and you forget sometimes how well America’s music has lasted on radio near 50 years after their first album.

  8. When you are awesome like me you only need to post under one name.

And how do you get HHH typing “Last one twernt me nuther fake . A homo fake” when the only posts before him were Tony Pizza and U L E?

I guess HHH posted as U L E and thought he was posting as someone using his name so he argue against the imposter who was really him. Or, maybe he’s just too stupid to know what he’s doing. Either way, it’s very funny, but in a sad way.

  10. Hebrew Mark , In case you haven’t noticed almost everyone here has their names hi jacked at one time or another. That U L E moron Is so far removed from me it’s ludicrous. My interests are more serious like jew and black ape lovers like you hoping for a left wing world , run by Jews , black apes , Muslims etc . Now go back to your 12 year old girl like your idol Jeff Epstein.

  11. You’re right I find myself fantasizing about Jeffery Epstein and his large uncircumcised dong giving it to me hard and fast up my Hershey canal bent over in a men’s room.

  15. This concert is the strongest argument yet for an internet overseen by judicious individuals of impeccable taste. It would be the first thing they’d ban. Sister Golden Hair was bad enough on the radio, I should hear it live?

  16. thanks Big O!! Great show. I didn’t have any boots from America between ‘75 and ‘12, so this filled in a spot. Much appreciated as is all you do. Please donate to keep the site alive.
