Alternate New Morning Acetate [no label, 1CD]

Very good soundboard.

Thanks to keithdylan; and V4TX (transfer) for sharing the tracks on the net.

Lineage: Music Hall MMF-5 > Goldring D42 Stylus > Bellari Tube PreAmp VP130 w/ECC835 Tube > Edirol R-09 @ 48/24 > Slight Click Repair applied.

Someone I am close to purchased these acetates recently and let me transfer them once.  The above method was used. The result is two wav files containing one side each. It is what it is. This is the way it will be shared. You will still hear some record noise, but overall the music is nice. I used a very light setting on the Click Repair, actually a setting I found in the Expectingrain forum. I use it for most of my vinyl rips. It takes out noise while seeming to leave the music alone. The acetates have the album in a different order, but Side 2 has three songs with a little extra on the front. Gotta say, I think Three Angels makes a better ender than Father of Night. Enjoy.

Two 12-inch acetates of an alternate version of Bob Dylan’s 1971 album New Morning, previously owned by Dylan and used during the making of the LP. These one-sided acetates were cut directly from the master tapes, and feature an alternate sequence to the released version. They were part of a collection of Dylan acetates discovered in 2014 in a five-story brownstone at 124 West Houston Street in Greenwich Village.

From approximately 1969 through 1972, Dylan rented the ground floor of the building for use as a studio (at the time, he lived two blocks away at 94 McDougal St). When the owner of the building died in January 2014, her executor found the acetates in two boxes labeled “Old Records,” in a a loft closet above the bedroom. The discovery of these acetates by Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold received extensive media coverage in publications including The New York Times, Wall St Journal, Rolling Stone, and Billboard.

The West Houston St Studios acetates originally belonged to Bob Dylan, who either discarded them or left them when he moved out of the building in the early 1970s. For more than 40 years, they were carefully stored by the building’s owner, and only discovered by chance by before the building was put up for sale earlier this year (sic).  These acetates are in Excellent condition and sound incredible, probably having been played no more than a few times (by Dylan!). Both labels have Dylan’s name and the side number written in red pen, as well as “New Morning” written lightly in pencil.

  25. I worked with The Rolling Stones in New York
On this day in 1986, ‘One Hit (To the Body)’ was released on The Rolling Stones’ Dirty Work album. Ronnie Wood had got in touch with me while I was staying at the Plaza Hotel in New York and invited me to come to the studio and lay down some guitar on a track of Keith’s. I was really up for this idea as I had done some studio work before on a track playing with Keith at Ronnie’s studio at The Wick in Richmond, England.

Actually, the session was not for Keith’s album, it was The Rolling Stones’ and I overdubbed a number of solos over the track. I think it worked out pretty good. Keith kindly sent me a magnum of champagne after the session.

You would have been better off remaining as one of our colonies you might have reached the heights of somewhere like Ghana instead of sinking into your swamp of idiocy .
