JEAN-PAUL BOURELLY
‘Kiss The Sky’
Gütersloh 2018 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Theater Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany; February 1, 2018. Very good TV broadcast.

Since the 1980s, Jean-Paul Bourelly’s own approach to Blues, Funk, Rock and Jazz with a tremendous freedom of expression, has been influencing generations of guitar players. He played and recorded with Miles Davis, Archie Shepp, Cassandra Wilson… The trio ‘Kiss the Sky’ was formed in Berlin, featuring fellow Americans Kenny Martin (former drummer of Defunkt) and Daryl Taylor (bassplayer for Archie Bell and the Drells, Jabo Starks & Clyde Stubblefield). Expect the roof to be blown away by a pumping rhythm section and innovative Blues from the very first range!

Bourelly had said that when he moved to Europe in the 1990s, his music became difficult to classify, and that it combines his Haitian heritage, African rhythms, blues, and rock.

Thanks to tom_phillips for sharing the show at Dime.

tom_phillips noted:

Thanks to Lewojazz hint, I was able to record the audio of the Livestream, which seemed to end a bit abruptly. He also pointed me to the ARTE which added the last track although in substantially lower quality… Fortunately and unexpectedly, WDR3 broadcast the last two tracks in their highlights program that Lewojazz recorded in the best TS-file quality, so with a few edits below result in the best quality audio of this complete show.

    By U L E on May 24, 2020

  9. That’s right . So many dumb morons actually believe that these morons signing off with other people’s usernames is really them . No accounting for all the low IQs on this site .

By HHH on May 24, 2020

  10. To Derrick and Anti , the real ones of course . It’ll be interesting to see how much the virus rages after this Memorial Day weekend is over .

By HHH on May 24, 2020

  11. Beaches throughout the country are being flooded by masses of humanity, most aren’t wearing masks like medical professionals advise. People are so stupid.

By HHH on May 24, 2020

  12. Social distancing? What social distancing? It’s a joke . Black apes brawling in stores and parking lots when told to put masks on. You can have the virus and not have symptoms. People don’t give a shit if they give it to someone else , especially the black apes.

By HHH on May 24, 2020

  13. Trump only wants everything to reopen to avoid more stimulus payments to people.

By HHH on May 24, 2020

  14. Same with the governors. They don’t want out of work people drawing unemployment.

By HHH on May 24, 2020

We need to quarantine them bastard monkeys. White folks ain’t much better. Folks ain’t takin this seriously. I go to wal mart a lot and it’s bout half with masks and half without

By Derrick on May 24, 2020

  17. Cases has gone up in my state since everything opened up again. Heard that the motherfuckin politicians is ordering the health Departments to lie to the public bout how bad it is

By Derrick on May 24, 2020

  18. Political leaders are only concerned with their agendas . They are not concerned with the health of anyone. The people on the left think we should go hide at home and never leave the house , while the people on the right believe we should hug and French kiss every stranger on the street . A politician will never fail to exploit a tragedy for their own gains .

By James on May 24, 2020

  19. Many people are too stupid to uses common sense in public. Masks , being sanitary in public etc . See used masks and gloves in the streets these days . What if a child picks them up ? Leave it up to mankind to self destruct.

By James on May 24, 2020

  20. Hey Anti , did you see Joe Biden bein interviewed by that ugly coon . He said if you don’t vote for him you ain’t black . Funny as shit . That’s some choice in November dude . We is in fuckin trouble.

  41. I performed the last night at Earls Court with Led Zeppelin
On this day in 1975, it was the last Earls Court concert for Led Zeppelin for a run of nine. I’m Morocco-bound from here.

I went to Morocco with Robert Plant and stayed at La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakech. We had many an adventure in Ouarzazate, Essaouira, Guelmim and also Agadir. But it was the intoxication of the Jemaa el-Fnaa, the medieval central market square of Marrakech that we would return to some twenty years later in 1995 to perform Yallah (The Truth Explodes) during the recording of the Unledded Page & Plant project.
