Don’t Dream It’s Over… It’s Starting Again [American Concerts Series ACS 065/066, 2CD]

Live in Los Angeles, CA; October 12, 1986. Very good soundboard.

Thanks to nocannothave for sharing the show at Dime.

nocannothave noted:

This show has it all - a great setlist (with an EXTREMELY rare performance of “Love Song”), superb sound quality and an outstanding performance. This show was approximately two months before the famous Australia concerts where Elton’s voice reached it’s breaking point and required surgery. His vocal performance here is MUCH better and he hits some nice high notes here and there. EJ’s band is amazing here (complete with a horn section), as are the backing vocalists.

  2. I saw Elton on this tour at the Philadelphia Spectrum. The man’s shows were all that much more remarkable considering these years were a personal and creative low for him. Leather Jackets, the album he had out that year, was one of the most meaningless albums a major artist ever produced and Elton himself disowned it (As you see, he sang no songs from it in the set list.) The man’s long string of hits never failed him, and he has been nothing if not resilient. Moreover, he stayed in step with the times, thus his music still sounds fresh on the radio after nearly 50 years unlike Billy Joel, whose hits today seem like museum pieces.

  15. Twernt me above. My commenting history shows very clearly that I am gay. I think about Uns all the time and post nothing but comments about male genitals and then try to backtrack and claim it wasn’t me. Read my comments. I think you will see the truth even if I can’t.
