JOHN ZORN/LAURIE ANDERSON/LAURA CROMWELL
Belgium 2021 [no label, 1CD]

Jazz Middelheim 2021. Live at the Park Den Brandt, Antwerp, Belgium; August 14, 2021. Very good Radio Klara broadcast.

Thanks to grateful_c2d for sharing the show at Dime.

On August 14, no fewer than three icons performed together: John Zorn, Laurie Anderson and Laura Cromwell - musicians that have been at the forefront of the avant-garde for the past five decades.

John Zorn is, of course, on record as the greatest all-rounder of the three. And, in any case, as one of the most idiosyncratic, controversial and influential musicians in history. From classical and jazz over soundscapes and exotica to rock and metal, there is little that Zorn has not yet unleashed his demons on.

Laurie Anderson has made some of the most versatile corners in recent decades. And not only musically: she also put eight books in the shop. What’s more, The New Yorker once described Anderson as the foremost and conceptual art pop philosopher of all time and, at 73, she still seems keen to live up to that “title”. Even though she remains in the first place a genuine music pioneer who pushed not only Philip Glass and Lou Reed, but also many electronics producers to the limit.

Finally, they are joined by NYC’s East Village born and bred drummer Laura Cromwell. Self-taught, she was a core member of feminist pop punk trio Growing Up Skipper. Laura founded the instrumental avant-rock bands Dim Sum Clip Job and The Vivian Sisters (both have releases on Avant), and was commissioned by Roulette and the Jerome Foundation for her 1999 work “Burning”. In 2021, she wrote, performed and released “may the birds inherit the earth” and performed as a duo with John Zorn at the Milford Graves tribute at the Vision Festival in the East Village.

  2. Another great World Series game. I hope those cheating ASStros lose again Sunday night.

By Mark on Oct 31, 2021

  3. That don’t sound like that jew bastard Mark , Jew Bastards don’t even usually like baseball or sports . Anti / dd was that you ? Givin jew bastard mark a taste of his own medicine? If you is name hijackin jew bastard mark it serves him right . The dic sucker . I ain’t been commenting much lately

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  4. Anti , I heard bout the fuckin World Series, ain’t been watchin it . Same shit I hate bout the modern game , everybody swingin for the fences , no small ball anymore, no stolen bases or attempts , by either team . But my biggest complaint as usual is no complete games by starting pitchers , or even lettin the starters go 7 or 8 innings anymore. How many fuckin relief pitchers did we see last night ? Think Braves used 6 or 7 pitchers . Bob Gibson is turnin over in his grave . The guy pitched 9 World Series games , all complete wit 92 strikeouts and a era under 2 . Koufax was also dominate , same wit Palmer , Catfish Hunter , Seaver , Marichal, all them guys . That’s what I grew up watchin , can’t watch games where the starters can’t even get to the fuckin 4th inning

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  5. I blame the coaches , managers , owners etc , it starts in little league. These guys are trained to onky go a few innings at most . When they get to the majors they is not capable of goin many innings . It’s destroyed the game

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  6. When you watch a modern game , you spend more time it seems watchin managers come to the mound to change pitchers than the game itself, I mean 12 to 14 pitchers for both teams in one fuckin game ? It sucks

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  7. Also everybody tryin to hit home runs. It’s either a homer or a strikeout. No strategy anymore. No stolen bases , or attempts, bunting , movin the batter into scoring position. It’s a different game than I grew up watchin. Boring , plus it ain’t hip hop enough for these coons of today . That’s why they play football and basketball, so they can act like monkeys

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  8. Derrick, nobody gives a fuck anymore. Who cares…

By HHH on Oct 31, 2021

  9. Derrick, wasnt me. i dont watch baseball anymore. not enjoyable. ian anderson was pitching a no hitter and the mgr takes him out.after the 5th inning. fuck that i want to see starters pitch 9 innings not this musical pitchers crap

By The AntiChrist on Oct 31, 2021

  10. Derrick, wasnt me. i dont watch baseball anymore. not enjoyable. ian anderson of jethro tull was pitching a no hitter and the mgr takes him out.after the 5th inning. fuck that i want to see starters pitch 9 innings not this musical pitchers crap

  17. comments are a horror show as usual. other than that thanks as always BigO

By rastaferion on Oct 31, 2021

  18. Twernt me above . I get lots of bitches

    By U L E on Oct 31, 2021

  19. Two above twernt me , more fakes

    By U L E on Oct 31, 2021

  20. Rumor has it this was a group of one Average Un and two ladies who prefer Big Uns

    By U L E on Oct 31, 2021

  21. Laurie was married to Lou Reed a Jew with a legendary Big Un

    By U L E on Oct 31, 2021

  22. Anti , heard that Ian Anderson got took out of the game wit a no hitter goin , didn’t watch the game , but I kinda thought it was the 7th or 8th inning , not the fuckin 6th . This is what I’m talkin bout. No reason to take him out . They got all them fuckin relief pitchers gettin paid , so I guess they want them to earn their money . Guess the young kids of today don’t know the difference . It’s all they’ve ever known . They wasn’t around in 68 like we was when Gibson was 22 9 1.12 era , 304 innings pitched , 28 complete games in 34 starts , only takin out for pinch hitters In low scoring games . 13 complete game shutouts including 5 shutouts in a row . 50 scoreless innings in a row , plus the World Series that year when he struck out 17 Detroit Tigers . Anti my friend, we’ll never see that again , young folks today have never seen it so they can’t possibly know what we is talkin bout

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  23. Also Sandy Koufax in 65 was 26 and 8 era around 2.20 29 complete games 382 strikeouts and won game 7 on the road in the World Series vs the twins on the road striking out 10 on two days rest

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  24. Sandy was 27 and 9 the next year 66 . His last season. 319 strikeouts, 25?complete games . Course the dodgers got swept in the series that year , by your Baltimore Orioles led by Frank Robinson won the triple crown that year . Think Jim Palmer was only 20 at the time and beat Sandy in either game one or two .

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  25. All these people keep trying to compare Clayton Kershaw to Sandy Koufax , no comparison. Kershaw has come up small in most of his postseason starts . Sandy was at his best in the big games , just like Gibson was . Also compare the complete games , not close . It’s not Kershaws fault that he plays in the modern era , but you can’t compare any pitchers today to guys like Koufax , Gibson , Palmer, McClain , Marichal, Lolich , Catfish etc

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  26. Throw in Tom Seaver , Gaylord Perry , Luis Tiant

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  27. Also Sudden Sam McDowell

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  28. Dont forget Don Drysdale, Jim Lonborg, Nolan Ryan Steve Carlton, Warren Spahn, Johnny Sane, Ferguson Jenkins, Jim Kaat, Bert Blyleven, Jerry Koosman, Art Mahaffey, Whitey Ford, Mel Stottlemyre

By The AntiChrist on Oct 31, 2021

  29. I’ve loved baseball all my life. I loved the Expos team, especially Vlad senior. Steroid users don’t belong in the Hall of Fame, especially Clemens and Bonds. It was great when the Red Sox came back from 3-0 to beat the Yankees in the playoffs years ago. I even play fantasy baseball.

By Mark on Oct 31, 2021

  30. Jim Bunning Sonny Siebert, Juan Pizarro, Vida Blue, Ble Moon Odom, Camilio Pascual, Pedro Ramos, Jim Bouton Gary Peters, Joel Horlen Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar

By The AntiChrist on Oct 31, 2021

  31. Gaylord ! LOL!!!

    By U L E on Oct 31, 2021

  32. Right on Anti , all them guys on the list was great

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  33. Think Jim Bunning pitched a no hitter in both leagues

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  34. Don Drysdale was sort of overshadowed by Koufax on the Dodgers , but he was great too . Like Gibson he would put you on your ass if you crowded the plate

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  35. Think the third starter on them sixties dodgers teams was Claude Osteen . Also Don Sutton was a rookie I think in 66 , Sandys last season. Don would go on to win over 300 games in a hall if fame career. Sadly he was one of many greats who has passed the last couple of years

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  36. Sandy is still alive at 85 , almost 86 , so is Denny McClain , Mickey Lolich , Gaylord Perry and Juan Marichal , also Jim Palmer

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  37. Jim Kaat still wit us , Jim Lonborg, Jim Bunning was a senator from Kentucky for years . Sadly he’s passed on too

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  38. Anti , Mike Mays , Willies adopted son is my neighbor. He goes to California all the time , says Willie is still kickin at 91 , says they both get together wit Sandy who also lives in Cal whenever he visits . Says Sandy still looks fit at 85

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  39. Bob Gibson died last October 3rd from pancreatic cancer . 52 years to the day that he struck out 17 Detroit Tigers in game one of the 68 series. A record that still stands and will never be broken

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  40. Game 7 still stings , Curt Flood stumbling in center field allowing 3 unearned runs to score wit two outs in the seventh inning of a scoreless game , on that fly ball by Jim Northrup, off Gibson , Micky Lolich would slam the door on the cardinals that day .he was mvp and as much as it hurts I have to say he deserved it. Three complete game wins , beating Gibson on the road in game 7 on two days rest

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  41. Think Mickey Lolich is still alive too . Think he’s 81 now

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  42. I remember Norm Cash from the tigers that year . He never wore a batting helmet

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  43. Al Kaline was on that team , also Dic McAullife, Mickey Stanley , Willie Horton , Jim Northrup, Gates Brown , Bill Freehan . Great team

By Derrick on Oct 31, 2021

  44. Denny McClain was 31 and 6 era under 2 . It was the year of the pitcher . Gibson and McClain both pitchers were MVPs of their leagues that year . You’ll never see that again either

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  45. Doubt any pitcher will win 20 games in a season, much less 30

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  46. I remember Joe Sparma and Hank Aguirre on those Tiger Teams.Theres no way MLB is going to attract new fans. With guys like you and me, we remeber how great the game was back then. none of this playing the shift bs. The Pirates beat my Orioles with Steve Blass and Bob Veale. Clemente in 71 and Stargell in 79. Now the Orioles are a joke.

By The AntiChrist on Nov 1, 2021

  47. I remember Jim Pancakes Palmer beating Sandy Koufax 6-0 in Game 2. Willie Davis made 2or 3 errors in that game losing the ball in the sun. Then Wally Bunker beat Claude Osteen 1-0. Finally McNally bea Drysdale 1-0 in game 4. Frank Robinson doing the honors

By The AntiChrist on Nov 1, 2021

  48. i have great news for you mark. i finally perfected the suck and stroke technique giving head. I added a twist of the head when bobbing up and down on manmeat

By swappers on Nov 1, 2021

  49. Derrick- Julio Urias won 20 games with the Dodgers this year. Don’t you ever get tired of being wrong?

By Mark on Nov 1, 2021

  50. Rest in peace, Jerry Remy. We at Red Sox Nation (and the rest of baseball) thank you for the joyous memories.

By Mark on Nov 1, 2021

  51. I remember many diks in my mouth and up my ass.

By The Antichrist on Nov 1, 2021

  52. Anti , I remember them Orioles teams 66 , then again in 69 70 and 71 .3 straight pennants . Think the lineup was Don Buford , Paul Blair , Frank Robinson, Boog Powell , Brooks Robinson, Davey Johnson , Mark the blade Belanger , and Elrod Hendricks and Andy Etchabarren splitting the catchin duties .

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  53. Chico Salmon and Merv Rettenmund comin off the bench

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  54. Same here, Anti!. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  55. Pitchers was Jim Palmer , Dave McNally , Mike Cuellar and for that 71 season Pat Dobson

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  56. I do, Derrick! I LOVE dik in my ass and mouth!

By The Antichrist on Nov 1, 2021

  59. You got dat right Anti!!

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  60. McNally, Palmer and Cuellar all won 20 games in 70 , In 71 they all won over 20’ again and Pat Dobson joined em . Only time in history baseball had 4 twenty game winners

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  61. I’m hard as a four inch rock right now!

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  75. The late great Frank Vincent , Officer Chauvin and the swamp gators all doin the honors

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  76. I do the honors on YOUR FACE Derrick you miserable asshole!!

  79. Derrick and Antichrist, I would give the phonies what that guy who bit the curb got from Ed Norton in American History X

    By T J , on Nov 1, 2021

  80. I’M SO SICK OF THIS NAME STEALING! GOD DAMN IT! MARK CAN FUCK OFF! I KNOW IT’S YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT! I’M GOING TO TURN YOU IN, ASSHOLE! YOU’RE GOING TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR MISERABLE LIFE IN PRISON!

    By T J on Nov 1, 2021

  82. Hey Anti , ignore the jew bastard. Name hijackers . The dic suckers ain’t fooling me , I doubt they is foolin anyone else either . It’s mostly that dic suckin Jew bastard Mark doin this shit . He sucks big fat coon elephant dics . I guarantee it

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  83. Bill Freehan 1941 to 2021 is the latest old school baseball player to leave us Anti . He died Aug 19th from dementia just 3 months shy of age 80. Freehan was the catcher for them great Detroit tigers teams of the 60s . Finished second to Denny McClain in the 1968 mvp voting . Guy was clutch usually hitting over 20 homers a year , back when homers meant something. Was involved in that play at the plate in the 68 series when Lou Brock tried to score from second base standing up instead of sliding . Freehan blocked them plate , Brock was called out even though he says his foot touched the bag . That play turned the whole series around and tigers who were down 3 to 1 rallied to win in 7

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  84. That was game five in Detroit, the famous Jose Feliciano game

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  85. Brock argued that he was safe , that his foot touched the bag . Who the fuck knows it was awfully close . That play turned the whole series around , cards were up 3 games to 1 and lost the series in 7

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  86. That play and Curt Floods center field stumble in game 7 were the plays that sunk the cards . Gibson and Lolich were matching each other pitch for pitch . Remember that final out , Tim McCarver popping up and Lolich jumping into Bill Freehans arms . For a kid and a cardinal fan it was heartbreaking. Cards had won the series the previous year 67 over Boston , and in 64 against the Yankees

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  87. 67 it was Gibson over Jim Lonborg in game 7 . Julian Javier broke the game open wit a three run homer

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  88. That was the Carl Yastrzemski triple crown year in Boston

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  89. Think Yaz is still wit us , but he’s old a shit too now . Man why can’t baseball be like it was back then ?

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  90. Back then the World Series was front page news . Today it’s on the back page of the Sports section. Sports talk shows hardly ever talk baseball. They just talk football and basketball . It’s all about these showboat coon monkeys these days

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  91. Anti , I do remember the 71 World Series. That was the Steve Blass , Roberto Clemente series over Baltimore. Blass won game 7 in Memorial stadium 2 to 1 Clemente homered

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  92. Remember Frank Robinson scoring the winning run in game 6 to force game 7 , crashing into Manny Sangillian at home plate . His helmet flying off

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  93. Pirates lineup was Dave Cash , Richie Hebner , Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell , Bob Robertson, Manny Sangillian Gene Clines , Jackie Hernandez , Jose Pagon

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  94. Other than Blass , can’t remember the pitching staff all that well , cept for Dock Ellis , Nelson Briles and Bruce Kison

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  95. I suk so much dik it’s scary.

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  96. Dock Ellis is the one who served up that famous home run to Reggie Jackson in the 71 all star game in Detroit. I’ve never seen a ball leave the park so fast . Think it hit the lights . That was the hardest hit ball I ever saw Reggie was fuckin awesome

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  97. Suck my corpse dik Derrick. Do it you BITCH.

By The Antichrist on Nov 1, 2021

  98. Dock Ellis said he once pitched a game on acid back in 70

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  99. Derrick you pathetic lonely freak, no one cares.

By Derrick on Nov 1, 2021

  100. Derrick, are you talking to yourself again ???

By DD on Nov 1, 2021

  101. You certainly sent me to sleep Derrick. Thank you!

By HHH on Nov 1, 2021

  102. Not me derrick, more name stealers, haven’t been saying much lately. I’ve noticed my name along with yours , Anti,s etc being used by the phony Balonies though . Like you say it’s probably that jew scum Hebrew mark behind most of this .

By HHH on Nov 1, 2021

  103. I’m with you guys baseball and all sports are shit today compared to the past . Not quite the fan you guys were , but I did watch until the black ape hip hoppers took over .

By HHH on Nov 1, 2021

  104. How about sleepy dementia Joe Biden , along with his far left puppet string pullers trying to give illegals $450.00 per person to come to America. Who’s going to pay for it ? Why us the taxpayers of course .

By HHH on Nov 1, 2021

  105. My mistake, I meant $450.000. Add a zero , that old senile scumbag

By HHH on Nov 1, 2021

  106. I’m with you guys. I eat shit today more than I did compared to the past . Not quite the fag you guys are, but I did watch until DD started pissing in Derrick’s toothless mouth.

By HHH on Nov 1, 2021

  107. Dock Ellis farted in my face back in 70 when I tried to get his autograph.

By Derrick on Nov 2, 2021

  108. Dock pissed on my feet when I tried to get his autograph, Derrick.

I never washed those shoes or socks again. I put the socks on my face while I watched him pitch on TV and jacked off.

By The Antichrist on Nov 2, 2021

  109. Sounds like fun, you guys!

By HHH on Nov 2, 2021

  110. Oh dear, I meant $450,000.00 each. Sorry for the typo.
And sleepy Joe fell asleep during the COPD26 conference today .

By HHH on Nov 2, 2021

  111. Fuck the scumbag motherfuckin, Dic suckin , coon and hi Yeller lovin Jew bastard name hijackers .. it’s mainly that dic sucker mark . That jew bastard

By Derrick on Nov 2, 2021

  112. They all should get what Joe Pesci got in Casino

By Derrick on Nov 2, 2021

  113. Or what Dirty Laundrie got in that Florida swamp

By Derrick on Nov 2, 2021

  114. The gators and wild pigs doin the honors

By Derrick on Nov 2, 2021

  115. I blow gators and wild pigs.

It’s not easy, but it’s worth it!
