MIKE NESMITH R.I.P. 1942 - 2021
Michael Nesmith, who achieved global fame as a member of the pop group the Monkees, has died on December 10 aged 78. “With infinite love we announce that Michael Nesmith has passed away this morning in his home, surrounded by family, peacefully and of natural causes,” his family said in a statement. “We ask that you respect our privacy at this time and we thank you for the love and light that all of you have shown him and us.”
Nesmith was the group’s guitarist, and also one of its songwriters, for tracks including The Girl I Knew Somewhere, Listen to the Band and Mary, Mary. With Nesmith alongside Mickey Dolenz, Davy Jones and Peter Tork, the Monkees had huge hits including US chart-toppers Daydream Believer and I’m a Believer, having been formed for a TV sitcom about a rock’n’roll band. Nesmith successfully auditioned for the role of “Mike” in the show, in October 1965, having begun his music career as a jobbing folk music performer in Los Angeles. Davy Jones died in 2012; while Peter Tork passed away in 2019. - theguardian.com

MICHAEL NESMITH
London 1975 [no label, 2CD]
Live at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, UK; December 30, 1975. Very good audience recording.
Thanks to TheCommish for sharing the show at Dime.
TheCommish noted:
Here’s a show that I downloaded here on DIME back in March 2006 when it was shared by forthelonely. It’s often listed as a soundboard but it’s likely just a pretty nice-sounding audience recording since you can hear the microphone rustling every once in a while.
The tracking of the original files was poor; the number of files exceeded the number of songs in the tracklisting so nothing lined up. Further, there were occasional gaps (most often in the between-song applause). So for this torrent I re-tracked the show and removed the small gaps and a couple other small flaws. However, no adjustments were made to the volume or sound quality of the recording.
There’s quite a bit of talk before/after songs so for tracking I tried to best match the talking to the related songs. It’s not perfect by any means but it’s a lot better than the tracking of the original FLAC files.
There are still some occasional flaws in the recording (for example, during Different Drum) but overall it’s a good listen given the age of the recording.

Derrick, you into Atomic Rooster. Carl Palmer started out with them. If you go to the website allmusic, most of their albums were 3-4 stars. They play like ELP on steroids. Vincent Crane was not as flashy as Emerson. Can you imagine both of them killed themselves
By The AntiChrist on Jan 5, 2022
I think this is a great live collection, Atomic Rooster a truly heavy prog-rock band, the Hammond organ of Vince Crane providing the dynamic, pulsing core around which the generally thundering riffs swirled and rose. There’s plenty of wah-wah too, and if heavy rock clichés are your thing, this is it. I do like it best when Chris Farlowe was lead vocalist, his voluminous growl and power a greatest part of the completest power of the band, though classic numbers like Tomorrow Night, here from Live at Beat Club, 1971, sans Farlowe and one of the all-time far-out riffs, does still pack its memorable punch.
By The AntiChrist on Jan 5, 2022
Anti, don’t know what cha on about. Cant see no Atomic Rooster on this post.
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
Not me above anti , nuther motherfuckin, Dic suckin, coon and hi Yeller lovin Jew bastard name hijacker , ain’t been commenting much lately cause of all the fuckin bullshit here these days

By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
Or what Phil got in the Sopranos, the truck tire doin the honors , Crunch
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
Anti , the late great Frank Vincent played Phil Letardo in the sopranos, he also played Billy Batts in good fellas , and the guy that gave it to Joe Pesci in Casino. Scorcese loved working wit him . Actually he Pesci and Deniro was all good buddies
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
Loved the sopranos, but hated that last episode, Just like most folks . Hard to believe that the great James Gandolfini has been gone now for almost 9 years . Huge loss
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
I’ll try to check out atomic rooster , you has convinced me to start listening to some ELP again . Got the first album wit Lucky Man , also tarkus and Brain salad surgery
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022

I suck Jew diks. Their jizz tastes like lox on an everything bagel sometimes. The black dudes I suck off never taste like that, neither do the PR’s.
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
I need what Billy Batts got in Good Fellas, except with an Italian co ck going off in my mouth. One in my ass too.
By Derrick on Jan 6, 2022
Derrick , everyone knows Greg Lake was in the original line up. But that monster face on the cover used to give me nightmares, I was scared to look at it much .
By The AntiChrist on Jan 6, 2022
Yes, I knew that. He also sang 21st century schizoid man
By The AntiChrist on Jan 6, 2022
Too bad Emerson Lake and Palmer in the late 90’s really sucked. I saw them in the 70’s and Keith Emerson was playing the piano as it rotated above our heads. I also liked when he used the german daggers to holddown a note. He was a showman

Emerson Lake and Palmer - that’s homo music, you can tell from the lyrics, like Just take a pebble (and stick it up your ass), oh what a lucky man he was (to have been gang banged in an alley) and of course Jeremy Bender. I got no prejudice but I think they should keep that stuff to themselves.
By Heartlands Patriot on Jan 7, 2022
you know hearland sissy, i alwqys knew you were stupid but now u confirmed it. How can u say homo music u moron, Karn Evil 9 Tarkus, Rondo, Toccata, America are homo songs. U make u-l-e look like a genius and thats pretty tough. Oh yes real fag music Picturesat an Exhibition and Brain Salad Surgery, Theme from Peter Gunn, Aaron Copelands Hoedown. Twas all fakes above trying to make me look gay(er)
By U L E on Jan 8, 2022
Antichrist, you is a typical know nothing.
Rondo, America and Hoedown were all written by homos, and that’s a fact. The audiences at ELP gigs was almost 100% male, and that is a fact also.
I say nothing about Keith, George and Carl, all straight I reckon.
I’m proud to be from the heartlands and to be a patriot. I ain’t no sissy either.
By Heartlands Patriot on Jan 8, 2022
Lets call a spade a spade Heartland Sissy, I know u like The Archies, The Monkees, Tupac, so your a typical jonny come later that knows jackshit bout good music. Its not even worth my time commenting. Put on somr frilly panties and heels and join the rest of the homos

You can suck on it if any time you like.
By Derrick on Jan 8, 2022
My ass is deep purple, it was fucked by two big fat dics the other night while I was sucking off another dude. Damn, that was good!
By The AntiChrist on Jan 8, 2022
Anti, just for the record, I don’t like any rap music or rap artists. I liked the Monkees when I was a kid, the Archies was bubblegum crap.
I liked ELP and in fact mostly British rock in the 70s but we lived a long way from the tour routes.
Deep Purple is nothing without Richie Blackmore and you knows it
By Heartlands Patriot on Jan 9, 2022
