BRUSSELS JAZZ ORCHESTRA/METROPOLE ORKEST
Hommage to Toots Thielemans
Brussels 2022 [no label, 2CD]

Live at Bozar, Brussels, Belgium; April 29, 2022. Very good radio broadcast.

Thanks to grateful_c2d for sharing the show at Dime; and to goody for fixing the track, Bluesette.

grateful_c2d noted:

April 29 would have been Toots’ 100th birthday. Reason enough to organize an evening with a lot of musicians/friends of Toots, that he shared his musical life with. The changes on stage gave some understandable but maybe unwanted pauses and I eliminated a few of those. No music was lost.

Belgian jazz musician Toots Thielemans was mostly known for his chromatic harmonica playing, as well as his guitar and whistling skills, and composing. According to jazz historian Ted Gioia, his most important contribution was in “championing the humble harmonica”, which Thielemans made into a “legitimate voice in jazz”. He eventually became the “preeminent” jazz harmonica player. He passed away at the age of 94 in 2016. - wikipedia
