ELVIS COSTELLO AND NEIL YOUNG
Connections [no label, 1CD]

Fan compilation. Various dates and venues. Mix of audience, soundboard and radio recordings.

Thanks to giona for sharing the tracks at Dime.

giona noted:

Here’s an upgraded version of my 2020 compilation. I added a pair of Neil songs recenly played live by Rusty + used some recently surfaced better sounding songs from the 1990 Bridge Benefit show. I hope you’ll enjoy it and if you have any suggestions to get an upgraded o more complete compilation please let me know…

I did this compilation which was floating over my mind for a long time as Neil and Elvis are two of my all time favourites… Neil and Elvis sharing the stage at the Bridge Benefit concert back in 1990 was one of the highlights of my musical life and here upgraded with a recently surfaced SBD version.

This upgraded compilation include a sbd live version of Rusty performing Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere/Dance Dance Dance medley.
This compilation includes:
- Neil And Elvis sharing the stage on a song (tracks #2,3,10)
- Elvis playing Neil songs (tracks #6,7,8,9,11)
- Elvis playing a snippet of a Neil song, usually Down By The River, in the middle of one of his own song (tracks #1,4,5,12)
As an extra I included a live version of Elvis playing King Midas in Reverse along with Graham Nash, author of this song (track #13)

Missing on this compilation are Neil songs played by EC at the beginning of his career. I don’t believe any recording has ever circulated from 1972-1973 gigs. Dance Dance Dance and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere have been recently played with the resurrection of Rusty while Heart of Gold and Old Man are still unavailable. I didn’t find any recording of Albuquerque played as a snippet during a performance of Pump it Up in Albuquerque back in 2015, it would have been great to include.
