New York 1993 [Two Of Us Master Series Volume 145, 2CD]

The Concert Event Of A Lifetime. Live at the Paramount Theater, New York City, NY; October 5, 1993. Very good audience recording.

Thanks to Two Of Us, Professor Goody, and to mjk5510 for sharing the show at Dime.

Between 1983 and 2002 there were not any tapers more active than the “Two Of Us”. For the better part of two decades they taped over 250 artists with an array being taped multiple times.

If you collect Springsteen then you are already familiar with some of their work, “fmcleanboots” has posted a half dozen or so of their “Tunnel Of Love” tour shows but has decided to pass the baton. What you don’t know is their passion was not just for Springsteen but for music and that passion runs deep. It is astonishing how many artists they taped.

They followed tours taping club shows, theater shows, arena shows, big artists, mid-level artists and local artists.

If they were following a tour and the tour had an off night they’d see who else was playing that night to tape. Always focused on enjoyment of the show as the priority, tickets were for the most part acquired outside of the venue as they worked to obtain the best possible seats, continually trading up until the correct seats were acquired.

The results of this were the captures are uniformly excellent but on occasion the start of the show was sacrificed as a trade-off for the seats.

The heavy lifting was done by the Sony WM-D6C and an external Shure Mic before moving to DAT for the last couple of years. None of their masters have ever been circulated and have been safely stored for the past three to four decades in a climate controlled environment. Tapes transferred so far are in pristine condition.

Though we may do some mini releases of a series of shows in order for one portion of a tour for the most part shows will not be released in order, there are just too many of them.

This will be a very exciting series and we hope along the way we upgrade existing circulating audio and offer up shows that do not have any circulating audio, enjoy the ride, this is definitely not a dark ride.

Paul Simon with Art Garfunkel - Paramount Theater, NYC, NY; October 5, 1993

Known Faults:
- Something So Right: first few notes cut
- Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard: first few notes cut
- The Boy In The Bubble: start slightly cut
- The Cool, Cool River: start slightly cut, splice at end
- Kathy’s Song: start slightly cut
- Old Friends: likely missing

In October 1993 Paul Simon took up residency at the Paramount Theater for a show billed as “The Concert Event Of A Lifetime”. What started out as a handful of dates stretched into 21 nights.

It appears only 5 of the 21 shows are in circulating, we are pleased to add a 6th show of this legendary event with the 5th show of the stand, October 5.

Two Of Us secured their usual excellent taping seats to get an excellent capture of the night’s performance. All of the shows were basically the same set with some guest performances.

The last song, “Old Friends”, is presumably missing appearing to have closed each night on the previous captures.

Thanks to Professor Goody’s continuing attention to detail keeping us rolling in the correct pitch week after week.

As always a massive thanks to “Two Of Us” and their dedication to capturing all these legendary performers, the HOURS and HOURS spent waiting in line, traveling, money on tickets as well as trusting me to be the caretaker of their life’s work, our little community is indebted to you both. Also, a big thank you to my friend “fmcleanboots” for putting me in touch and laying the groundwork that has resulted in all these great releases… we’ve barely scratched the surface.

  9. Derrick had a few comments removed! That proves that bigo has the ability to delete comments… if they want to.

But they don’t bother to do delete any of the other garbage hate speech racist porn filth comments that he and his idiot friends post…

It’s easy, but they don’t bother to do it. Apparently they haven’t figured out that removing a few comments every day will increase the donations they keep asking for.

It won’t happen quickly, mainly because they allowed the trolls to post here for several years now.

Do us all a favor, bigo, and clean it up here.

Make it a good site to go to again.

    Twas me.

  14. Hey Jocko P, rumors recently circulating that it is your very own self who keeps starting these rumors. We all know you are an attention seeking numbnut - so stopping keep asking stooopid questions!

  15. Everyone is prejudiced. Including you! Prejudices are useful, because they help you keep things simple. But they can also influence the way we behave towards certain people, and that can be dangerous. Fortunately, there is something you can do. Below, we describe the three steps you can take.

The first and most important step in the fight against everyday prejudices is to recognise them, and to acknowledge that we are all affected by them. Everyone has definite ideas about certain groups of people that never apply to all members of that group. If you are, and remain, aware of this fact, you have already taken the biggest step.

The second step is to try to make sure that your own prejudices do not determine your behaviour. Prejudice should never lead to exclusion or discrimination against others. Also, make sure that you do not spread your own prejudices.

Step three: react! If someone around you hurts other people, insults entire groups, or uses prejudice to define them, react. Oppose them! React in your own circle of friends and acquaintances, respond on social media.
