GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR
San Francisco 2023 [no label, 2CD]
Live at The Chapel, San Francisco, CA; March 13, 2023. Very good audience recording.
Thanks to loughney for sharing the show at Dime.
First of a five-night residency at the Chapel. The setup - four projectors in the balcony, and had their own soundboard on the floor.

Tyler King, sfsonic.com:
The lights went down and bassist Thierry Amar and violinist Sophie Trudeau walked onstage before grabbing their instruments. They began creating what can only be best described as the title of the piece, “Hope Drone,” the duel projectionists Karl Lemieux and Philippe Leonard projecting the word “HOPE” onscreen behind the two members, as the rest of the band slowly took the stage and began to join in. There was Efrim Menuck, Mike Moya, and David Bryant on guitar, Mauro Pezzente on bass, and both Aidan Girt and Timothy Herzog and drums and percussion. To call the song a “drone” would be doing it a disservice though: there were no parts that could comfortably blend into a given auditory background or be ignored. It was all well-executed, carefully rehearsed, and masterfully performed.
To see a band perform for nearly two hours where all of the songs are instrumental, it’s an achievement that they were able to not only keep the audience’s attention, but also create music that was so moving and precise without the need for any sort of vocalization.
The members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor never stayed on a movement of a song for longer than what felt absolutely necessary. Whether it was a lingering quiet calm passage like on the opening minutes of “BBF3” or reaching furious crescendo upon furious crescendo on “Cliffs Gaze,” nothing overstayed its welcome.

Everyone is prejudiced. Including you! Prejudices are useful, because they help you keep things simple. But they can also influence the way we behave towards certain people, and that can be dangerous. Fortunately, there is something you can do. Below, we describe the three steps you can take.
The first and most important step in the fight against everyday prejudices is to recognise them, and to acknowledge that we are all affected by them. Everyone has definite ideas about certain groups of people that never apply to all members of that group. If you are, and remain, aware of this fact, you have already taken the biggest step.
The second step is to try to make sure that your own prejudices do not determine your behaviour. Prejudice should never lead to exclusion or discrimination against others. Also, make sure that you do not spread your own prejudices.
Step three: react! If someone around you hurts other people, insults entire groups, or uses prejudice to define them, react. Oppose them! React in your own circle of friends and acquaintances, respond on social media.
