BBC Master Dat [no label, 1CD]

In Concert, Paris Theatre, London, March 2, 1972; Sounds Of The Seventies, BBC, London, September 25, 1972. Very good soundboard.

Here are some early Genesis.

Davidraphael commented on Dime: “These are indispensable recordings that capture tracks from the early Genesis albums Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot, as well as the song, Twilight Alehouse, which was the original B-side of I Know What I Like, but never released on any album.”

The BBC In Concert (Tracks 1 to 7) has circulated as Genesis - Henry’s Green Knickerbockers. Here are some notes by David Dunnington that accompanied the disc:
This 30-minute broadcast, part of the BBC In Concert series, contained a concert performance of three songs before an audience in BBC’s Paris Studio. Andy Dunkley introduced the hour-long programme which consisted of a set by a band called Max Merrill And The Meteors followed by Genesis’ set. It was first broadcast on March 11, 1972, and the Genesis portion was repeated (minus Peter Gabriel’s brief introduction to the first song) on May 20, 1989 during Alan Freeman’s Saturday/Sunday Rock Show.

It is entirely possible the BBC made a transcript LP to accompany the original broadcast but I have not actually found any concrete evidence of an original LP. There is an unconfirmed rumour of an LP to accompany the 1989 rebroadcast, said to couple this show with Genesis’ Night Ride sessions unearthed on the Saturday/Sunday Rock Show for rebroadcast in 1990.

Our copy came from a trade back in 2007.
