Hot Hits, Cold Cuts [Condor, 1CD]

Unreleased tracks and outtakes.

From the Condor label comes this version of the McCartney/Wings outtakes album, Cold Cuts. This has a different track list than the Vigotone release. A notable inclusion is the uncut 11-minute-plus version of Linda’s Wide Prairie. When the song was released on Linda’s posthumous album, Wide Prairie, the song was edited down to 4:33, omitting all the passages with Paul’s lead vocals. Oriental Nightfish is a different mix to the one offered officially. The 1980’s mix of My Carnival (first released on the B-side of Spies Like Us) has the (then trendy) stutter edits. The mix on Cold Cuts is an original 1970’s mix. Hey Diddle on Wingspan (which is deleted) is in a medley. It isn’t the original 1970’s version. - Philip Cohen

Thanks to Phil for sharing the tracks.

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

  6. The two Denny Laine tracks shouldn’t be omitted here, as they are the original 70’s mixes. And the release of these tracks on Laine’s Japanese tears album were severely remixed, upfronting Laine’s vocals a lot, for example.
