BOB DYLAN
Emmett Grogan Acetates [Capricorn CR-2055, 1CD]
Studio outtakes. Very good to excellent soundboard.
This release from the Capricorn label is fully de-clicked. There are outtakes and alternate mixes from the “Another Side Of Bob Dylan album, plus bonus tracks. - Philip Cohen
Bobsboots.com noted:
The material was taken from acetate, but there is little white noise pop to indicate this. The tracks are perfectly quiet. For the most part, the material sounds as if it is the exact mix as on the official release, but the engineer can be heard introducing the songs. All I Really Want To Do has an extra verse, but the gem here is Mr. Tambourine Man. It is a completely different song than what was released. Your Dylan collection has to include this incredible version. It is drawn out with an entirely different laidback feel and different words. Ramblin’ Jack is heard singing along.
Thanks to Phil for sharing the tracks.
Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.
These tracks are no longer available for download.

Dylan - one of the more delightful sets of recordings - love the laughs - a tinsy little noise a few times - otherwise a very clear and enjoyable free-wheelin inventive adventure with Mr. Z.

Philip Cohen and BigO come through again! Just saw Bob in Phoenix and he put on a great show. Met Nils Lofgren and danced with his wife during Highway 61! Philip, you have a cold drink and a free lunch waiting any time you visit Phoenix.

Great stuff this — but this version of Mr. Tambourine Man is on the NDH Soundtrack (BS#7). In case the Thought Police are watching.

Why is Mr. Tambourine Man omitted? Where is the official release?
By Walter on Sep 2, 2011
oops, I found out.
By Walter on Sep 2, 2011
Mr. Tambourine Man won’t play a song for me.
Bummer!

hey bigo, glad i got mr. tambourine man tuesday. thanks again!
i didn’t get the dead/dylan last month and this new one you’re offering looks cool, but i’m interested in a dead show than rehearsals. i’ve been finding more great zeppelin boots. i got the complete paris theatre, london, england 4.1.71 bbc set. rules!!! all the hits.
i saw a pink floyd blog that has been temporarily suspended. that’s not good. hopefully they won’t catch on bigo. man, i got all my floyd boots here except for interstellar zappadrive. it’s too heavy!!! all the hits.
best,
ed

Motorpsycho Nitemare interesting since he ended up having a real life one in the latter 60’s. My brother was on the way home from the Honda dealer Feb. 1968 when he got hit. That’s why they’re called Murdercycles in our family..

get ye to this website:

Type in Grateful Dead in the seach.
You will find more concert recordings of them than you’ll know what to do with! (in the hundreds at least!) and in a variety of formats: FLAC, MP3 etc. and you can download too! They are all free, and some go back to 1967 when they were a blues and rock band. What fun!

hey 3yearsnojob, thanks! yes, i am familiar with archive.org. i got a great zony mash show from knitting factory from there that has john zorn and marc ribot on it, two smashing pumpkins shows, a bunch of carla bozulich shows(we’ve met here in b’ham, al at bottletree 8.22.08 when evangelista played. she had to fix the guestlist.
and one sleepytime gorilla museum. i’m waiting to see if their last show pops up on there. if not, i’ll get their first to last show.
well carla b doesn’t look like she’d be very friendly, but she is. if you’re familiar with her, get the show that carla kihlstedt and todd sickafoose are on. i know both. nels cline is on it too. he’s great. we haven’t met, but i have a bunch of albums he’s on. get both wilco shows bigo offered. he is on both. they are from the metropolis and riviera theatre.
carla b was in a band called the geraldine fibbers, ethyl meatplow and scarnella, before she went solo. she’s good. i have two evanglista cd’s and i’m gonna stop killing and a disc called cry she sings masters of war by dylan on. i don’t want to give the guy promo other than that cause i don’t like him, but his albums albums are good. nels and todd are it too.
best,
ed

don`t understand the emmett grogan reference. emmett was an author , “Ringolevio” and part of the digger movement in San Fran…
By sluggo on Sep 9, 2011
Perhaps, because the acetates may have(at one time) been in Grogan’s posession.
By Philip Cohen on Oct 1, 2011
fair enough Phil, I actually hadn`t thought of that..
By sluggo on Oct 1, 2011
Thanks for this great Bob share. I found Mr Tambourine Man and added it for my copy. Cheers to Phil & BigO
