Kansas - Pittsburgh 1975 [no label 1CD Torrent: 120211] live at Stanley
Theater, Pittsburgh, Dec 2, 1975. Broadcast on WDVE, April 1976. "I am
not really sure of the exact origin otf these reels, but they were in
orangeish red Columbia Magnetic Tape boxes ( If I remember correctly ).
There were 3 reels and they split the drum solo between reel 1 and 2.
I edited it back together the best I could but there is a small flaw if
you listen. That is a small price to pay for a nice 1975 show though...
The reels were 1/4 track and 7.5 IPS. Transferred on a Tascam 4 track
reel to reel to a Sony CDR-W33 professional stand alone recorder. There
was no EQ'ing." Ex pre-FM stereo.

Canada Jam - The Lamplight Mix - Mosport Park, Ontario - August 26, 1978
I obtained one set of the 24-track master tapes from a storage facility
in Canada in the summer of 1991. (There were two tape machines running
during the show). I have a friend who had a 24-track machine, and he gave
me free studio time to do a quick "on the fly" mix so I could enjoy the
show. This was the second time I mixed this show, and I have since given
the masters to Kerry Livgren who was happy to get them! I mixed to a Maxell
LXII cassette with Dobly B noise reduction (it was the thing at the time).
There are very little effects added, and only a touch of reverb as I mixed.
There were only 4 mikes on the drums, and I wish I had more time to have
tweeked those to a more punchy place. Listening to this now, I also wish
I had rolled off a bit of the high end tape hiss. Not a lot, but you decide!
There are a couple of slight "glitches" that appear at about the 30 and
60 minute marks. This was where the 30 minute 24-track reels ended, leaving
a couple of second gaps as the crew changed to a new reel. (This is why
two machines were running at all times so the "gaps" could be fixed. The
best part of mixing those 24-track tapes was sitting there with only my
friend, listening to Steve Walsh's amazing voice isolated with nothing
else through the system!
I had goosebumps. This band has been one of my top 5 bands for 31 years!!

Fripp & Eno - Air Structures Revisited: FINAL EDITION [no label 1CD
Torrent: 100155] Robert Fripp and Brian Eno live at Olympia Hall, Paris,
France, May 28, 1975. Sourced from vinyl.
"This piece or 'pieces'
of music were performed in Paris 1975. This recording is one of the earliest
performances of Fripp's ambient soundscapes or frippertronics. This comes
from a double vinyl called Even Spaces, but is also know as AIR STRUCTURES,
which is the title I have chosen.
"It came to me as
four raw tracks one for each side of the vinyl, I reconstruKcted the performance,
removed skips and cuts in the music, I cleaned up as many noises as I
could without removing any music, and it all runs smoothly.
"Even though there
were no breaks in the actual performance I edited it to the 9 named tracks.
All the pieces naturally interpolate each other so I placed each track
at the point where I could just begin to hear Fripp fading in the next
piece or where the music changed distinctly.
"I completely re-worked
the sound in many ways but I think it sounds very good and I find that
it's now much easier on the ears.
"I have also done
2 sets of inserts, the typical front & back insert with info, and
a set of avant-garde type inserts depicting the WIND theme which pertains
to the Wind section of the performance." - juxtiphi

Kraftwerk - Radio Bremen, 1971 [no label 1CD Torrent: 99855] live at Gondel
Kino, Bremen, Germany, June 25, 1971. Taken from FM broadcast? "Comments
by littlebear:
however, as you listen it becomes obvious that this
is indeed a recording of the rather short-lived lineup of Kraftwerk that
includes Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger in its ranks! That's right -
Neu! as part of Kraftwerk!!!
"It's basically a
whole CD of extended "side-long" jams in the style of the first Kraftwerk
albums performed in front of a small but enthusiastic audience and broadcast
on Bremen Radio in 1971. The members of Neu! really take a forward role
here, with Rother's guitar driving things for most of the time and sounding
quite rocking, with glimpses of his future soaring melodic sound in the
extended jam passages. The guitar and drums are backed up by synth and
I believe organ bass, with notable exceptions of flute taking the forefront
on the great version of Ruckzack (from the first Kraftwerk LP) and is
it distorted electric violin on K4? Maybe just Rother taking a violin
bow to his guitar strings! Proto-Kraftwerk and proto-Neu! It's exciting
stuff, and on top of that the sound quality is excellent - a professional
radio recording." Recently released 2006? on CD-R label. Ex FM stereo.
