Santanamigos site Santana played 3 shows in Montreux from April 30th to

tour dates I trust these dates! According The Montreux Jazz festival site,
the 1971 festival was held from June 12th to 20th 1971! So I think Santana
played before the Festival, but the concerts were organized by the Montreux
Jazz festival organizers!" - Doc Tinker. Includes two tracks from Beat

Santana & John McLaughlin - Berkeley Reconstruction: TheTooleMan [no
label 2CD Torrent: 148396] live at Berkeley Community Theatre, Berkeley,
CA, Sept 5, 1973. "Two recordings showed up recently on Dimeadozen. They
generated a lot of discussion and some suggestions for a reconstruction
project. The recordings were supposedly the early and late performances
of Santana (the band) and John McLaughlin in Berkeley, CA, on September
5, 1973, but some of the files from the early show were later discovered
to be from the Chicago show of a few nights earlier
After listening
to the Berkeley recordings, I believe that one person recorded all of
the tracks from an FM broadcast. All of the tracks have the same FM hiss
and dynamic compression, which draws up solo sections of performances
to the volume of the full band and causes some pumping on
percussion sounds. Since it is not too likely that both performances were
broadcast on one night, theres a good chance that all of these recordings
are of the same show. All of the tracks in this reconstruction required
pitch correction of -65 cents, another bit of evidence that the recording
originated from the same person and broadcast." Reconstructed by TheTooleMan,
May 2007. The Band: John McLaughlin - guitar (6, 12 string); Carlos Santana
- guitar; Khalid Yasin (aka Larry Young) - organ; Doug Rauch - bass; Billy
Cobham - drums; Armando Peraza - congas. Ex- FM stereo.

Frank Sinatra - Lucky Strike Hit Parade (Cameron Records LP 1CD demonoid
1149027) From the back of the LP - "Frank Sinatra's first appearance on
"The Luck Strike Hit Parade" was on February 15, 1943 and he replaced
another WNEW graduate, Barry Wood (now a successful TV produver. Through
the years that followed, Sinatra was on and off the Hit Parade Show, constantly
complaining about the old fashion tempos called for by the shows ultra-conservative
approach and in later years fighting against the type of novelty and unmusical
tunes that the producers insisted he sing. What is most important about
these shows however, is the fact that Frank sang tunes that he would never
get around to recording later during is very successful career. Here,
for the first time, his millions of fans can listen to many unfamiliar
renditions! Recapturing once again the thrill of yesteryear and also hear
Mr.Sinatra in a completely different setting outside the recording studio.
Understandably some of the songs are not up to his selective standards,
but all are outstanding and extremely rare. I'd sit back and recall the
days of the "Lucky Strike Hit Parade". Your Hit Parade (NBC Radio/Lucky
Strike Cigarettes) recorded Dec 27, 1947 and Jan 3, 1948 in Hollywood;
Arrangement: Axel Stordahl; add vocals: The Hit Paraders; orchestra lead
by Axel Stordahl. VG+ SBD mono? Vinyl source some surface noise.

here. So what does that leave? More session chatter, false starts, partial
run throughs, etc, but no complete alternate takes that aren't already
on "Inside Tommy." Ex SBD stereo.

Tracks 1-6, 9, and 11-14 come from a bootleg that has been seeded here
in the past, "Sinatra Unreleased" (Getzel #1), and the audio quality is
excellent -- with one exception. "Cry Me a River," the song popularized
by Julie London, is an extremely poor offline recording (that is, recorded
over the air, possibly on a portable tape recorder) of a tune Sinatra
had never previously attempted (to my knowledge). No studio-quality recording
is known to exist. (Two titles from "Sinatra Unreleased" have been omitted
here: "Mack the Knife," which was officially released on the L.A. IS MY
LADY vinyl LP, and "Have You Met Miss Jones," which can be found in my
torrent of "The Master in His Workshop," from the RING-A-DING-DING sessions.)

Stone - PikNik 1970: REMASTERED [no label 1CD Torrent: 75486] live at
Piknik Kasteel Groeneveld Baarn, The Netherlands, Oct 9, 1970. "This is
a fixed version of what was recently seeded, which has serious digital
dropouts for some of tracks 3 and 4 - now cleaned up by splicing in sections
from an alternate source of similar sound quality. The show has also been
normalized which improved it all a lot to my ears (listen on headphones
if you have any doubts)."
"I'm hazy on exactly
what "Piknik Kasteel Groeneveld Baarn" means as to the venue, place and
radio show but I've had this previously listed as Baary, Holland "Piknik
Show" VPRO session. I've also seen it listed as 9-2-70, so 9-10-70 might
have been the original broadcast date with the info I had being for the
recording date. Any clarifications will be appreciated."

"Enjoy this excerpt from Sting's rehearsal sessions for MTV Unplugged
- straight from the soundboard! This is a fascinating glimpse into the
process that goes into putting a performance together. Featuring Sting's
legendary lineup from "The Soul Cages" and "Ten Summoners' Tales" tours,
this 70+ minute recording reveals how Sting breaks down his band's existing
"electric" arrangements and rebuilds them to suit the acoustic format
(tracks 6 and 7 are particularly interesting in this regard). The band
also tries some tunes that don't make it to the final broadcast setlist."
