BOZ SCAGGS
Richard’s Cafe 1973 Remastered [no label, 2CD]

Live at Richard’s Cafe, Atlanta, GA; 1973. Very good to excellent soundboard? Slight hiss.

For years, this show has circulated either on its own or as part of The Boz Scaggs Signature Series (11 CDs).

gv0000 posted this comment at Dime: “I am not a Boz Scaggs expert by any means, but I don’t think this is 1973. This is more than likely April 15-17, 1974 at Richards in Atlanta, with the Outlaws. This show sounds like it is supporting the Slow Dancer album which was released in March 1974. For those that care. Any other thoughts as to the date of this show are appreciated.”

So far no one has responded to gv0000.

We got our copy in a trade all those years ago.

This is the kind of classic/bar-room rock that recalls an easier time (likely it’s all in the mind) and it’s damn frothy (in a good way). And also because, like Todd Rundgren, there’s a heart of soul inside this Boz man.

  5. This will be a Treat. When I lived in West Palm Beach Les Dudek would show up at Ray’s Downtown Blues Club and absolutely Shred. He lives about 40 mins. away in a sleepy lil Beach town. He was in Steve Miller Band, Boz,Stevie Nicks (Solo), and had an Awesome solo career. Before he would play Steve’s “Sacrifice” he would always say “Steve still owes me money for this tune”. Great Personable musician and gentleman. Would highly recommend his Solo Stuff. Rock On Big O!

  6. Saw Boz with Les Dudek a couple of times in 1973 and 1974 in LA and Santa Barbara including opening for the Allman Brothers. Extremely hot band comparing favorably to the Betts/Leavell era Allman Brothers.

  7. Thanks for the Boz. Haven’t listened to it yet but I’m sure it will be great. You can never have too much Boz.

  8. Les was all over the Allman’s “Brothers and Sisters” album. Most of the twin guitar stuff on “Ramblin’ Man” and “Jessica” was not overdubbed Betts.
