Paris 2012 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Grand Studio RTL, Paris, July 3, 2012. B’cast on RTL. Ex FM stereo.

I woke up and my hands were gone, yeah
I looked down and my legs were long gone
I fell for her with my shoulder, but there was nobody there

- Missing Pieces

She don’t care what kind of wounds she’s inflicted on me
She don’t care what color bruises that she’s leavin’ on me
‘Cuz she’s got freedom in the 21st century

- Freedom At 21

…and if there’s anything good about me
I’m the only one who knows

- Same Boy You’ve Always Known (The White Stripes)

You can hit me if you want to
Do whatever makes you happy

- I Cut Like A Buffalo (The Dead Weather)

How you gonna top yourself?
When there is nobody else?

- Top Yourself (The Raconteurs)

It’s quite possible that I’m your third man girl
But it’s a fact that I’m the seventh son

- Ball & Biscuit (The White Stripes)

Since the White Stripes fell apart around 2007, we know they officially broke up in 2011, Jack White has been drifting. He has formed a couple of bands, has a record label Third Man Records and worked his backside off on a ton of side projects including the profitable soundtracks for Cold Mountain and the Bond franchise, Quantum Of Solace. He is not poor. A 2006 Sunday Times Rich list found him in seventh place among entertainers with a fortune of £20 million.

This year, White released his first solo album and this exclusive gig in Paris is part of the promotion. It’s a hard rock show where White shows off his guitar skills and calls out many songs from his varied career.

If White is searching for something, it must be that rare item in all art, something genuine. Better still, “genius”. Meanwhile, he’s still drifting. Thanks to Watten for sharing this at DIME.

  2. there was a show on youtube that lasted there for a day or so then for some reason they yanked it down. it was there officially. i went to the show on the page and converted it to mp3. 2 hours later someone asked me to send them a link to it so they could watch it. i attempted to and it was gone but most (not all) the songs were now there in individual form only. it was a touch over 2 months before this show here happened. my mp3 looks as follows.. altho the final song is missing. it was never included. it was a cover that i would absolutely love to own. my copy is 146meg. Jack White - webster hall ny 4-27-12 114mins.mp3
    anyone have that final encore?

By darth on Aug 26, 2012

  3. i do :-)

By barth on Aug 26, 2012

  4. The link says that this is an LA show but here it says Paris. So where is the LA show?

By michael on Aug 27, 2012

  5. i think jack already had something unique, and it was the white stripes. while he claimed to understand a certain limited ’shelf life’ to what he and meg were doing, i believe the end of that band was primarily because of meg(ie: anxiety and travel issues). i’ve seen jwIII half a dozen times, 5 with the stripes, and once when the raconteurs opened for dylan. the white stripes were one of the most unique live experiences i’ve ever witnessed, raw power, complete unpredictability and lyrics which called for repeated investigation(lyrics which could make dylan proud). it must be difficult for him to get past the nagging suspicion that he has already had, and lost, the most truly genuine music experience he may ever have. that said, i love jack white, and how he has conducted his business. and i still miss the white stripes. too bad meg is just not up for it.

By darth on Aug 27, 2012

  8. as for the -
    ” i do :-)

i doubt it. in fact im 99% sure u dont.

By darth on Aug 27, 2012

  9. once again, u are mistaken. a friend was there and taped it. ill sell it to u for the $10 you stole at the hugh laurie show

By barth on Aug 27, 2012

  10. if darth don`t have it , it don`t exist.
    well…according to him.
you ever get tired of whining like a little schoolgirl and grow up you might make more friends.

  11. thanks for this. I don’t have individual tracks for the above-mentioned YouTube show, but I posted the whole thing as MP3 on a ROIO forum.

mods, if this link is against the rules, please feel free to delete this comment.

  12. whattya mean against the rules you dingus, we are the rules!

By dr stephen broule on Aug 28, 2012

  13. Thank you for sharing Eric.
    Please excuse the pompous ass.

By sking on Aug 28, 2012

  14. oh an audience recording isnt what im talking about. i wouldnt want an audience encore to fill in the sbd recording of the 114min concert that i already have. that wouldnt make any sense. plus that claim is likely untrue anyway.
2ndly i didnt steal any money. he counted it 3x before he handed it to me then handed me the tickets.
lastly.. i dont want anything from u ever.

i have never said if i dont have something it dont exist. thats the 2nd time u have misquoted me or falsely attributed that quote to me.

eric - is goodnight irene actually on your copy? it was supposed to be on mine and cuts off before the end. guess ill find out the hard way. ty for the link.

By darth on Aug 28, 2012

  15. ok upon having dl’d it it seems that no goodnight irene isnt included in that copy above however i found a copy of the song on youtube and dl’d it. its 6mins long bringing the total length of the show to 120mins. evidently they removed the song for copyright reasons. well before it is yanked by youtube for any of yall who want it..
the full show is still on youtube without this track btw. easy enough to do a search. i just found it. erics link however breaks it down into 21 single tracks. which makes it easy to burn to 2 cds. and of course u can grab the encore above that i linked u to and make it complete.

i found dozens of audience recordings of paul and bruce doing i saw her standing there and twist and shout from the hard rock calling concert at hyde park london eng 7-14-12 that they recently showed on vh1 and palladia as well. but there was one copy that i was lucky enough to locate that was superb pro shot but youtube yanked it within minutes of me locating it and dl’ing it. one of the only times i ever dl’d an audio and video of something i found on yt. normally i only do the audio.

By darth on Aug 28, 2012

  16. what about the elton show?

By barth on Aug 28, 2012

  17. “Please excuse the pompous ass.”

God knows I’ve tried to ignore darth, but his self absorbed blatherings are incessant.

By dingus on Aug 28, 2012

  18. 2ndly i didnt steal any money. he counted it 3x before he handed it to me then handed me the tickets.

you missed your calling as a lawyer you dingus.

By dr stephen broule on Aug 28, 2012

  19. “Lawyer” would be too dignified. Try shyster, ambulance chaser, leech, maggot, reprehensible creep, vermin.

An honest man made an honest mistake. Another honest man would have corrected it. Only a despicable wretch would take advantage of it, then come online and brag about it. What are you darth, 57 years old? And this is the way you behave?

By dingus on Aug 29, 2012

  20. you really expect him to admit he was wrong?

By dr. earth on Aug 29, 2012

  21. my bad - I should have double checked my actual file rather than what I posted on the forum. Sorry about the Goodnight Irene omission.

Glad you guys enjoyed it though, and Darth, thanks for the YouTube link.

By Eric on Aug 29, 2012

  22. eric - u are most welcome. glad u have the complete show now.

other idiot under all names - im 52 and regardless what u call me.. u would have done the same thing and im sure u do. just cuz u dont admit it or u have fun attacking me about it doesnt mean much or prove otherwise. if u would stoop so low that ud spend a year harassing me like this on this site theres no telling what u would do. i wouldnt put it past u to steal candy from a baby. i believe concert ticket prices are out of hand. i believe anyone.. yes anyone who got $10 more than they should have in change upon buying a ticket to a show this year would keep it. i do not believe u of all people would return that money.
the other words u used to attack me make no sense whatsoever.
i dont believe sking was talking about me when he referred to the pompous ass but i think u knew that.
stephen - how do u know i missed my calling?

By darth on Aug 29, 2012

  23. Only a true sociopath would rationalize their behavior the way you do, darth. The $10 comes out of the ticket seller’s salary, not the performer, promoter, or venue. Here’s what I did, at the Kerby Street Cafe on South Lamar in Austin last year: the waitress gave me $1 too much change, and I gave it back. It was the right thing to do, and I knew it would come out of either her paycheck, or the cash register guys’. One dollar, darthyboy. $1. I don’t care if you don’t believe me, because the opinion of a miserable lowlife is worthless. The other words I used to describe you are very, very accurate. Why else would so many other people insult you? From now on you’ll be $10 darth.

By dingus on Aug 29, 2012

  24. claiming your own words are accurate? wow. go figure. and $1? are u kidding me? u dont care if i believe u? imagine that. if u dont care why do u put so much effort into trying to convince me? why bother trying to antagonize me if u claim u dont care about things? if its true that ‘the opinion of a miserable lowlife is worthless’ then why do u keep expressing it? there arent so many other people. there is mainly u. there are a couple of others who have jumped on your bandwagon. but its mostly just u using several names.
and u are wrong about how they were paid for. the $ did not come out of his pocket. u havent a clue. u only think u do.

By darth on Aug 30, 2012

  25. “mainly u” About time you admitted there are others. An honest man made an honest mistake. Another honest man would have corrected it. Only a despicable wretch would take advantage of it, then come online and brag about it.

By dingus on Aug 30, 2012

  26. a despicable wretch…hmmm.. funny that u use that phrase. i bet youre used to hearing that a lot. i have a feeling a lot of the things u are calling me are things u have been called and u are projecting towards others in an effort to make yourself feel better about your own inadequacies. perhaps your own parents teachers relatives friends offspring if u have any..altho highly doubtful anyone would mate with u so thats very unlikely but on the off chance that this accidentally happened maybe one of these poor souls grew up to realize what a ‘despicable wretch’ u are and told u so. and now u throw these nasty words towards me in an effort to make yourself feel superior. how pathetic of an existence u obviously lead to spend this many months day after day hour upon hour harassing me on here unable to find anything else to do with yourself. repeatedly u have said u would stop and how u were done only to repeat the same childish behavior non stop. u arent doing anyone any favors. no one is enjoying what u are doing. u arent accomplishing anything. clearly im not going anywhere. so now what?

By darth on Aug 30, 2012

  27. 5000 words and not one curse! Keep up the good work!

By dingus on Aug 30, 2012

  28. yeah usually there`s a few f bombs with every darth rant.

By judge juhdee on Aug 30, 2012

  29. Where are my manners?? How did you like Kerby Street’s menu, $10 darth? I know you checked the site, I recommend the frittata. I also recommend not skipping out on your check, and leaving a nice tip, but that’s asking too much of you. Let’s see what I can make you do next time, that’s what. :-)

By dingus on Aug 30, 2012

  30. i have no idea what youre talking about.

By darth on Aug 31, 2012

  31. Of course not, you’re an idiot, 52 year old $10 darth.

By dingus on Sep 1, 2012

  32. me not knowing what u are talking about doesnt make me the idiot. its not my responsibility to understand u. its yours to be understood. youre the speaker. if u cant make sure youre understood by your audience.. in this case me.. then thats your problem.. not mine. therefore i dont believe that im the idiot here. im sure that what i just said went completely over your head. i shouldnt have had to explain this to u. but then again i have had to explain quite a few things to u in the last bunch of months and so far u havent gotten any of them.. have u?

By darth on Sep 1, 2012

  33. “i dont believe that im the idiot here.”

u also didnt believe the Tacoma Dome was in Tacoma

By barth on Sep 1, 2012

  34. show me where that happened.

By darth on Sep 2, 2012

  35. no. u know where it happened, dusseldarth

By barth on Sep 2, 2012

  36. thats not what u just said. u said i didnt believe that the tacoma dome was in tacoma. when didnt i believe this? at what point did u tell me this and i did not believe it? show me that particular posting. be specific. dont tell me that i know where it happened. show it to me.

By darth on Sep 3, 2012

  37. u know where it is. stop harassing me. you’re a looney.

By barth on Sep 3, 2012

  38. only 5 songs??!!!

By illustrationISM on Sep 7, 2012

  39. illustration - at this particular event are u aware of him doing more than 5 songs? its a studio session in a paris radio station. he probably did a few of these at various other radio stations in europe the way musicians do the tv talk show circuit here.. like letterman leno snl conan kimmel fallon etc.
i check on mondays to find out all of the shows and who is on them each week. there are quite a few too.
live with kelly. ellen. the talk. good morning america. the today show. cbs early show. theres even an afternoon show on abc sometimes. theres a sunday morning show on cbs too that has live performances from time to time. theres ferguson. carson daly. tavis smiley.. ry cooder was on his show on 9-3 in fact. u can catch clips online for many of these. theres colbert report. the view and now theres katie couric with her own show. she will have sheryl crow on the 10th. there are others but they never seem to have actual musical performances but they do have musicians on from time to time. i record or download all the live performances from these shows that pique my interest. in the 80s and early 90s i did many many more of them than i do now. i dont like much of what is out there now unless its the older ppl.
but now there are sites making it easier for me to dl them and programs to facilitate recording things online when dl’ing isnt an option. like when things arent on youtube.
