ERIC CLAPTON
In The West Of Japan [Wow Wow Wow, Disc 5/6 of 11]

Live at the Osaka Jo Hall, Osaka, Japan; October 22, 1997. Very good to excellent audience recording.

Following Clapton’s 1997 tour of Japan, Wow Wow Wow had released an 11-CD box set showcasing the following sets:
October 20, 1997 - Marine Messe, Fukuoka
October 21, 1997 - Castle Hall, Osaka
October 22, 1997 - Osaka Jo Hall, Osaka
October 24, 1997 - Green Arena, Hiroshim
October 25, 1997 - Rainbow Hall, Nagoya

Included in the set is a three-track bonus CD featuring: Change The World (from soundboard tape, October 13, 1997); Modern Girl (outtake from the Pilgrim album) and Pilgrim (a cappella version).

One could say Clapton was cruising - the setlist remained the same! A consummate entertainer, the guitarist did not disappoint his Japanese fans. Overall, a nice collection for those who want the Japan 1997 shows.

Thanks to Phil for sharing the tracks.

Note: A longtime music fan, Philip Cohen was a contributor to the now-defunct ICE Magazine and compiled the boxsets for The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, Humble Pie and Nice.

  3. hehe. half done. woohoo. more more more. how do u like it how do u like it. more more more.

im endeavoring to collect all the one off historically significant ec shows. the regular normal every day shows he does on tour is good to have one or two shows from each tour. yes. but if there is something in particular that matters because he did something odd or different or special these things need to be made available. maybe all the obscure and rare items like they do with bruce and neil young etc. should be done with eric. his one offs.
