St Louis 1987 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Fox Theater, St Louis, MO; March 11, 1987. Very good to excellent audience recording.

To mark the 25th Anniversary of Paul Simon’s Graceland, the album was re-released this year featuring five bonus tracks; an audio narration by Paul Simon called The Story Of Graceland and the DVD, Under African Skies.

For those who wished to re-live the excitement and exuberance when Paul Simon toured behind the album in the ’80s, this show is a must. While we received our copy in a trade, this is what manfunkel wrote when he shared the show at Dime:

This is not just the best sounding Paul Simon recording I’ve ever heard, it’s one of the best-sounding recordings period. And it’s a great performance by all concerned. This was early in the Graceland tour and Simon was still so enthusiastic about the music that he waited at the stage door after the show to ask people what they thought of the show.

  2. Thank you, Big O. I am certainly looking forward to hearing this show. Graceland is one of the few indispensable CDs in my collection. I love the singing sound of that fretless bass!
