The Other Angel In The Dark [no label, 1CD]

Alternate mixes and live tracks. Very good to excellent soundboard (slight hiss).

Recently, we received a copy of Laura Nyro’s The Other Angel In The Dark, an alternate (early? rough?) mix of The Angel In The Dark album. While some of the tracks are not as polished and embellished as on the official release (for example, the horns are missing); some tracks include a count-in (for example, Sweet Dream Fade and La La Means I Love You) but on the whole, these tracks are a must for any Laura Nyro fan. The collection rounds off with five live tracks - likely sourced from a soundboard.

Laura Nyro died in 1997 when she was 49. Reviewing the posthumous Angel album (2001), George Graham wrote: “Angel In The Dark reminds us once again of one of the most significant singers and songwriters from an age that produced many, and how Laura Nyro was creating some of her best work right up to her all-too-early passing.”

Click on the highlighted tracks to download the MP3s (224 kbps). As far as we can ascertain, these tracks have never been officially released on CD.
