San Bernardino 1972 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the Swing Auditorium, San Bernardino, CA; March 17, 1972. Good to fairly good audience recording.

For those who are still in the Halloween mood…

Thanks to Doinker for sharing this in 2006. This is what he noted then:

This show contains rare, alternate lyrics for two songs… I can now also state definitely that this Black Sabbath show is the 1972 San Bernardino Swing show, and has never appeared before… Together with the help of Rob Dwyer’s SabbathLive.Com and from Mr. Dwyer personally, plus archival material from about this show, all other dates and venues were eliminated in a fashion similar to a sudoku puzzle. This is definitely it, there can be no other choices…

A rough mp3 of this show was sent to Rob Dwyer, and a review of it appears on I want to thank him personally for all the positive encouragement. He was a true gentleman to deal with.

Thanks also to G. The Cock for the artwork.

Lineage: MR reel to reel > Sound Forge 6.0 > Flac Frontend level 6, sectors aligned and verified.

  5. hey bigo, thanks! i didn’t have this sabbath show. this makes 23. i have several ozzy and dio shows. i passed on the download festival sabbath shows, as an act of solidarity for bill ward. well you know the shows may be good, but that reunion is a sham.

i’ll tell you one of the best sabbath shows is hara arena, dayton, oh 7.15.72. under the sun and wheels of confusion!!! another good one from the old napster days is don kirshner’s rock concert 1975. napster ruled!

i did make a few corrections to these tags. on track 9 it should be embryo / children of the grave. on track 1 there is one too many spaces in front of n.i.b. i have no idea who tommy ionni is so one can fix that to their liking on track 8. i just put guitar solo / drum solo / wicked world (reprise). i’m still listening, but, if i find anything else, i’ll post it.

  6. Tommy Iommi? Original guitar player for Sabbath…

By NAMoosedog on Nov 1, 2012

  7. Ha ha ha! Good one, Moosedog. Unfortunately your link goes to some poser site of a guy named Tony. Did you double-check it?

By golgo hakase on Nov 1, 2012

  8. yes, i know who tony iommi is. i’ve seen sabbath before, but later. i saw ozzfest 1999 in atlanta, ga. i have it in my library. again, napster ruled.

i was making fun of the tag cause instead of tony it says tommy. that’s why i said i have no idea who tommy is…

  9. Ed, you are spot on again, as always! I too passed on the “reunion” show. Same reason…it aint “Sabbath”! Sham indeed. Didn’t even give it a listen!

  10. thanks, starrwatts! yeah, people posted clips on my wall on facebook, and i didn’t watch it.

i got one of bill ward’s last shows with sabbath with dio singing last year. it’s pretty good. i got off viva les bootlegs blog. check it out. i dopped it on my ipod this morning. they have lots of great sabbath shows on there. i have a bunch. i just get ones that look kind of now like this san bernardino show. i played it twice today. it’s a nice one.

be nice if bigo would offer the plimpton show. i had napster rips of it, but it skipped and i’m not really sure if it was all from that show. eventually i’ll get a better copy of it.

i’ll tell you i liked ian gillan in sabbath and glenn hughes. not so much a tony martin fan. i got the ian gillian paris show. it is great.

Wouldn’t trade those memories for anything! Those good times ended when a plane crashed into the Swing in the early 80’s. still have my ticket stub from this show- YES opened for Sabbath that night.Keep em’ comin!
