Toronto 2012 [no label, 3CD]

Live at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; October 14, 2012. Good to fairly good audience recording.

It’s a bit distant but fans should still enjoy this.

Thanks to BurnBoy who recorded and shared the show on Dime.

Here are some comments from Rush cover band, Lotus Land, after watching Rush play in their hometown of Toronto. These comments appeared in Canada’s National Post.

You guys know the music inside and out. Did you hear any slip-ups?

Chris Nelson (vocals, bass): No – on the contrary. Some of that [music] sounded like a bootleg from the ’80s that I’ve never heard. Geddy sings flawlessly. It made me a teenager again, I was so excited.

Bob Chartrand (guitar): I didn’t see or hear any screw-ups. There were a couple of minor guitar issues that Alex seems to be having - he had them on the last tour. There was no volume [when he played] - but it only lasts a couple seconds. When you see that, you feel the pain. That’s nothing to do with his performance, though. These guys are like gods – it’s unbelievable. Alex is wailing more now than he did two years ago.

Mark Dalton (drums): I didn’t notice any screwups; I feel good that Neil’s throwing his sticks up [theatrically, in order to catch them], and throwing them way behind himself. That’s what I do most of the time - I throw them way behind me. He did like three of those. That was good to see.

  2. 1000 THANK YOU’S!!!!
This tour is really really good!
RUSH is playing top notch, and for my money, CLOCKWORK ANGELS is the LP OF THE YEAR!

  3. Track 303 (third drum solo - how many other bands could get away with one drum solo in 2012, never mind three!) is generally known as The Percussor. Before anyone comes on asking what tracks they’ve played where on this tour, it’s all documented on . Clockwork Angels is my album of the year as well.

  5. Thank you for some fine Rush Big O amigos.

By James on Nov 17, 2012

  6. hey bigo, thanks for the rush show! i got every rush show you offered, going back to the tucson convention center show.

i definitely can use both shows i was at. i saw them in feb 1994 and dec 1996 at the omni in atlanta, ga. this was counterparts and test for echo tours. russian assassin may have been there too.

the only show i have from the omni, and i wasn’t even there is rainbow 6.24.78. it’s a great one. 21 minute version of still i’m sad. rules. this is when they opened for reo speedwagon. one can get 320kbps rips of it on soundaboard blog. it’s a pretty good blog. i got lots of great shows there by the allman bros band, the firm, deep purple, thin lizzy, etc…

By DROPKICKSARGE on Nov 17, 2012

  8. DROPKICKSARGE….. It simply is not possible for you to be more correct. I am a HUGE Rush fan, and I totally agree with your BIG O remarks!

So nice to read positiveness as opposed to flames and the like.

    Take care, Sarge!

Yes Sir! I was there at those OMNI RUSH’s! Saw 83 and 92 RUSH at The Omni as well! I was at That 78 RAINBOW show at The Omni! It was:

and some little known band from Birmingham, England called JUDAS PRIEST… I wonder whatever happened to them?

That is a famous RAINBOW show…. Richie got into a fight with some stage manager after the lights went up… .he turned the house lights on too fast, according to Blackmore and Richie took matters into his own fists!

I saw RUSH here in ATLANTA on 11/1/12… they were exceptionally good! Saw THE WHO on 11/5 and HEART on 11/7…. All 3 were great… it was like 1979 all over again!

Always enjoy seeing your posts and hearing your words of wisdom! NEVER STOP POSTING!!!!

    THE Russian Assassin

PS: My Favest BOC lp is “Mirrors”! I saw that 79 show at The Omni with IAN HUNTER & MICK RONSON as warmup. I LOVE that song “MIRRORS”! I used to have a giant 4×4 album cover poster of MIRRORS signed by the band…. a record store gave it to me and I got it signed.

Anyone out there remember what RECORD STORES were????

  10. ED SAAD… I meant to type BIG BAD… Not Big Bag… I apologize for the typo

  11. hey russian assassin, great to hear from you!

i’m going to see the sword tonight at workplay theatre here in b’ham, al. i saw them there 11.28.10. they’re a great metal band from austin, tx. you should definitely check them out. watch the clip of iron swan from chicago 12.12.12 which is two weeks after i saw them. man, it’s thrash!

i saw other shows at the omni, but you got a few years on me! i saw the clash of the titans tour there in july 1991 which was anthrax, megadeth and slayer. alice in chains weren’t well known yet, but they did play first. it was actually supposed to be death angel, but they were in a bus accident, had to cancel the tour and then broke up later. 4/5 would reform as the organization and put two albums out. then years later 3/5 would reform later and become swarm. i have swarm-beyond the end, and both organization albums. both bands were good, but death angel were the best. i saw them twice, back in the day. :)

one other show i saw at the omni was priest, megadeth and testament in dec 1990. killer!!! this was painkiller tour. priest went thrash on that album. i love it. scott travis rules. he used to be in a band called racer x with paul gilbert who was in a popular 80’s band called mr. big. i saw billy sheehan here with steve vai in march 2005 at boutwell auditorium ballroom. it was awesome!!! tony macalpine was also there!!! it was a must for all guitar rock fans.

    happy t-giving!

  14. hey russian assassin, i hope you saw napalm death last night at the masquerade. they were great monday night here at zydeco.

as for the above blog, yes, i know about it. i liked buckeye63’s old blog better called rock town west. man, i got a ton of zeppelin shows from there and a rare boc show from phoenix, az where they play sea cruise!

i have that boc-providence show. bigo offered it earlier this year. it’s a great one.

  15. Ed Saad …. no, I missed NAPAALM DEATH. I went to see MEGADETH on MONDAY NIGHT at The Tabernacle… they were awesome as usual!

Have you ever listened to GHOST?

By THE Russian Assassin on Nov 30, 2012

  16. hey russian assassin, a friend of mine went to megadeth monday in atlanta. i saw them here at the annual scheffer eye center crawfish boil may 6. they were ok not really that exciting. i only liked the old songs. i liked the cult and jane’s addiction better friday night. would love to have those shows in my library.

ghost are cool. they remind me a bit of blue oyster cult and king diamond.
