GRAHAM PARKER
Tarrytown, NY 2012 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Tarrytown Music Hall, Tarrytown, NY; November 24, 2012. Very good to excellent audience recording.

Thanks to larryrulz who recorded the show and sharing it on Dime.

larryrulz notes:

Fantastic start to the first Graham Parker and The Rumour tour in over 30 years. The audience was into it but not a distraction at all. The setlist is a good mix of new and old… In this recording, there is a gap of about two minutes’ duration between the end of Local Girls and the beginning of You Can’t Be Too Strong. The gap consists mostly of applause and a very brief portion of Graham’s banter before You Can’t Be Too Strong. No music is missing.

  2. Thanks so much bigO, I can’t believe this show’s here already! Graham & The Rumour were one of the best bands of the ’70s IMHO, I saw them once and have tickets for an upcoming show.

Good interview with Graham in the WSJ: http://tinyurl.com/d9fbdmq

I’m using the “10 Band EQ” effect in Audio Hijack Pro on my Mac to adjust the audio to my liking, I’m wondering what programs anyone else might be using? One drawback to AHP is that I can’t do batch processing, it’s rerecording one song at a time with the same settings. Thanks!

  3. What a nice surprise! What a way to have spent a Saturday night in New York! Let’s hope we get the Stones show tonight this quick!

  4. id rather wait for the sbd or tv ppv from the final nite. it should prove to be the best audio quality of the 5 shows of course. course a very high end audience recording in the mean time wouldnt kill us. haha.
how about the dylan final show from bklyn with mark knopfler on those 2nd thru 4th songs?
and hes actually finally doing at least one song from tempest. what the hell took him so long. end of the tour and only the last few shows he finally does anything from tempest.

  8. “Nov. 22, 2012 (final show of the tour)”

bob dylans tour is called “the never ending tour” so nov 22 cant be the final show.

oh and btw… you could save bigO some bandwidth by just posting links to set lists.

    http://tinyurl.com/ca3urjo and http://tinyurl.com/bljrpmw

By catarrth on Nov 26, 2012

  9. i prefer links that actually work. since those links didnt and the set lists i offered actually appear visible.. i prefer my method. thank u very much.
the current tour is over. even if each time he goes out since june 7th 1988 its called the never ending tour. he obviously takes breaks and each tour does end. this one did with the show the other nite ending this particular tour.
incidentally oct 16th 2007 was the 2000th show since the never ending tour started.
i didnt make the post about me. i am posting about dylan and the stones. u are the one making it about me.

By darth on Nov 26, 2012

  10. Bigo should consider renaming this site Big D as it is becoming more about you than anything. give it a rest darth.
Your pathetic postings and profane outbursts have become very very tiresome. They are also becoming increasingly difficult to ignore because you appear on every posting any more.
This isn`t your blog why are you so obnoxious?

Hey Big O , aren`t you just a little bit tired of his manifest rants and profane shoutings?
Why not just delete his postings as they appear , this site would calm down and return to its former glory very quickly.

By sluggo on Nov 26, 2012

  11. i dont make it about me. u do. why should i give it a rest? how about u giving it a rest? dont blame me for your actions. thats like blaming the victim for being there when the attacker was in attack mode. are u kidding me? do u blame the one raped when a rapist rapes? or the mugging victim when hes mugged? whats wrong with u? rather than telling me to give it a rest.. how about u giving it one? theres nothing pathetic about my postings. if u dont like what i post.. stop reading them and responding to them. just ignore them. u bring more attention to them and me by doing this.
whats tiresome is this crap that u are throwing in my direction. arent u getting tired of this yet?? whats obnoxious to me is that u refuse to leave me alone and u think its your blog to tell others what to do and when and where they can post comments. omg!!
if my postings should be deleted as they appear shouldnt the ones that attack me and harass me also be? like this one i am responding to now? hello?!?!?!?

By darth on Nov 26, 2012

  12. darth, the links catarrth gave work fine. Don’t you have any basic computer skills? Several months ago I gave a link to a page that had two John Mayall shows, and you couldn’t scroll down the page to find the second show! My 10 year old nephew could show you how to do it. At least we didn’t have to endure two profane rants from you, like last time. Posting two set lists that have nothing to do with a Graham Parker show is like a whining child desperate for attention. You’re 53 years old, time to grow up.

By Dingus on Nov 27, 2012

  13. if my postings should be deleted as they appear shouldnt the ones that attack me and harass me also be?

Excellent point !!!yes , lets get rid of ANY and ALL posts pertaining to darth.

  14. Lucky enough to see Graham Parker a good five years ago and enjoyed the heck out of it; so thanks

By hfs radio fan on Nov 27, 2012

  15. the date that these posts are showing up.. the 27th.. is jimi hendrix’s birthday. hed be 70. hes been gone 42 yrs.
a new jimi cd is coming out early next year. its called people hell and angels. has 12 songs on it. all previously unreleased. coming on march 5th. all recorded in 68 and 69. as u will hear jimi toys with horns, keyboards, percussion and a second guitar, exploring fresh diversions from his legendary guitarwork on this cd. a lot of it sounds like stuff that would fit nicely on a 2nd cd to first rays of the new rising sun which came out in 97. that in itself was the planned double album follow-up to 1968s electric ladyland. from what i can hear on this people hell and angels cd i think yall will like it. but then jimi fans like all they can get when it comes to hendrix.

By barth on Nov 27, 2012

  19. darth breath- what does “never ending” mean? there can’t be a final show to the “never ending” tour until hes dead.

u made it about u when u posted set lists for dylan and the stones on a graham parker thread. starved for attention much?

sluggo is the man! no darth, no replies to darth! works for me!

  20. ALL OF YOUR POSTS. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WITHOUT EXCEPTION.. ARE ABOUT ME. NONE OF MINE ARE ABOUT ME. MY POSTS ARE ABOUT MUSIC. ON THE GP POSTING ABOVE BRETT MADE A COMMENT ABOUT THE STONES. I FOLLOWED THIS UP WITH A POSTING ABOUT THE STONES. I ALSO FOLLOWED IT UP WITH OTHER POSTINGS THAT I FELT WERE ACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING. U DONT HAVE TO AGREE. I DONT CARE. ALL OF YOUR POSTINGS ARE BY THE SAME PERSON USING MANY NAMES. THEY ALL COME FROM THE SAME IP ADDRESS. WHO DO U THINK YOURE KIDDING?

  30. Well (if anyone reading cares about the music) this is a good set. The band is in very good form after all these years and GP is singing very well indeed. The set list is a mix of new and old and the new songs fit in beautifully. The new album ought to be well worth a purchase.

The quality of the recording is good for an audience recording — clear enough to enjoy, but rather soft. Crowd noise doesn’t intrude on the music.

By Jania on Dec 3, 2012

  31. I look forward to hearing this! I was at the Ethical Culture Society show in NYC on Saturday night, and it was a really good tight show with seasoned professionals all. The big minus was sound. Some said it was great, but in the sixth row not too far off center, it was pretty rough. I could barely make out the between-song banter. We were sitting in the wrong spot in a parabolic echo chamber.

By Ben on Dec 3, 2012

  32. Good lord, all that has nothing to do with THIS show. Post on-topic about Graham Parker please!
