  5. Thanks bigO! I’ll have to pass on seeing them in person, $95 for the cheap seats is a bit much. Besides, I don’t think Mick & Keith could ever top this performance:

  17. I was there watching this live. Great to have an audio to listen to.

I paid £400 and I have to say worth every penny - just for Midnight Rambler alone :-)

From what I’ve seen on Youtube the 29th Nov show is musically better. You can’t beat opening night though…

    Cheers bootleggers :-)

  18. Paul you are one lucky dude..
I got chills just watching the vid clips seeing these guys back together.

    florence welch on gimme shelter.
there are 2 copies that are absolutely incredible. i cant decide which is better. both have vocals that kick in at the 43 second point. theyre both filmed from different places one is closer but each has its own advantages. the sound is similar on both. a combo of both would be wonderful. these ppl really know how to film shows. hell of a job they do.

ot - 3/4 of a band that isnt allowed on this site anymore is going to be on letterman on monday nite. theyre probably not performing of course. hint.. their drummer died 32 years ago and their movie celebration day is probably what they are promoting.

By darth on Dec 1, 2012

  20. that’s great paul, wish i could have been there too. youre fortunate to have seen mary j. blidge, florence whatshername sings like a cat being strangled underwater. im just saying…

By barth on Dec 1, 2012

  21. btw.. its 3 yrs ago now but one of the best versions of gimme shelter ive ever heard happens to have been with mick with u2 backing him and fergie on co-vocals at the rnr hall of fame. for anyone who didnt catch it or who might not remember it…

By darth on Dec 1, 2012

  22. Hi Barth

IMHO they screwed Gimme Shelter right up. It’s my favourite song, albeit I do prefer Midnight Rambler live. The interaction just wasn’t there with Blidge and according to one review, Keith sort of just looked on and grimaced !!!

For those wondering the best Stones album of all time, playing three tracks from Let It Bleed would sum it up for me…

They are now heading Stateside - enjoy :-)

By Paul on Dec 1, 2012

  23. thanks paul, i agree about gimme shelter based on the very bad cell phone videos ive seen. keith n ronnie look bored in the flawrence vids.

By barth on Dec 1, 2012

  24. Is this what I get if I spend $840 for a good seat down front at the Stones show? A bunch of idiots sticking up both hands, blocking my view, so they can record the show on their “smart” phones? I understand they want to preserve the moment for themselves, but don’t inflict this sub-amateurish garbage on the general public. Poorly composed, focused, and exposed, accompanied with crappy audio. Ugh. Here’s a tip, people: when the singer struts across the stage, follow him/her with the camera!

I hope they don’t sit there and edit it with a 99 cent app while the show rocks on, so they can be the first to post this crud to YouTube. That’s as pathetic as someone on a music blog posting the set list from last night’s show or next week’s TV lineup.

Why bother with guest stars on Gimme Shelter? Use the unknown background singers (like Merry Clayton was) and turn down the lights. If Mick and Florence were supposed to be dancing, I’d rather watch Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

just in case you want to ignore original sender I`m doing this public service.

im not sure how that translates to 3 days. its the same date. dec 1st. thats today. where do u get 3 days? this posting will show up as dec 2nd since its 140pm est sat. but even if u want to say its yesterday.. fine. how is that 3 days? look at the dates on my postings and your follow ups. what are u talking about? or are u just gonna say - i thought u were ignoring us?

  30. well, however long it took to post, it was too damn long! And not even soundboard, for chrissakes.

Hey, just kidding. What a gas to hear this, a xmas wish answered. Much better than most of the youtubers. Great opening selection, I only wish they’d followed with “the Last Time”, just to needle the adorati. It’s been said before many times, but these old farts are so damn good, it’s, ahem, “terrifying”.

Love hearing the choir, too - THAT’S a first! And conversely, maybe it’s the stripped-to-the-bone on-stage instrumentation, but they sound like they got the goods for another 15 years!

  32. Thanks very much for this concert and in a timely fashion too. I was wondering if the Stones could still bring it and they sounded great. Loved hearing Mick Taylor again. To bad they did not switch Ron Wood to bass and let Mick Taylor play lead for the whole concert. I am already looking forward to hearing the second show.

By Mackster on Dec 2, 2012

  33. lowendbill - second concert Nov 29th had last time, champagne and reefer with Eric Clapton, lady jane, and satisfaction. They’re on youtube.

By barth on Dec 3, 2012

  38. You’re welcome. I was able to put last time on the first disk. I deleted the band intros and one song and added the 3 others to 2nd disk. You might sacrifice some other song or just not add one of the remaining 3. But that’s a tough call.

    By 4yrsnojob on Dec 3, 2012

  39. A review of the show said it did not really warm up until after Bill appeared on stage … and, of course, Satisfaction did not make the selection which seems bizarre. Thanks for sharing.
