40th Anniversary Bash 2012 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Best Buy Theater, New York , NY; November 5, 2012. Very good to excellent audience recording.

Thanks to bc3ironmaiden who recorded the show and shared the tracks at The Traders’ Den.

This is what bc3ironmaiden noted:

An evening with Blue Oyster Cult - rescheduled from October 28 due to Superstorm “Frankenstorm” Sandy to November 5. Eric Bloom, Albert Bouchard, Allen Lanier, Joe Bouchard, Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser - original members of Blue Oyster Cult reunite at historic New York City show.

This show was beyond words, a dream come true for me!… What an amazing setlist. They dug deep and pulled out some old gems. They were going to do one more song (with Albert on vocals ) but they made them stop the show at 11pm, so they went right to Reaper and that was the end.

Recorded by bcironmaiden - Some talkers and singers, not too bad in the mix though!
Recorded with SP-CMC-8 Sound Professionals Deluxe Audio Technica Cardioid Stereo Microphones >
SP-SPSB-1 Sound Professionals Mini Battery Module > Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder HD > CD Wave
Editor 48khz/24bit > 44khz/16bit & Track Split > TLH [Flac 8]

Thanks also to ijadnams for the artwork.

  6. BOC were one of the bands Lester Bangs really hated. Shame on you, Lester! BOC’s gift to the world was melodic, intelligent, sophisticated rock music. Thank you guys! Long live Buck Dharma Roeser! Cheers Tony
PS. saw them only once in the flesh: at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in 1978. They were awesome!

  7. I Saw this show at the Best Buy Theater a few days after Hurricane Sandy, Gas shortages and devastation everywhere. You will hear Eric Bloom asking for a ride at the end of the show ’cause he’s out of gas. Don Roeser proves why he is one of the best guitar players in the world on Black Blade. I saw the rehearsal also. Really loved Albert singing Death Valley Nights. A few days before there was an ALL ACOUSTIC Blue Oyster Cult Show out in Port Washington: A quick note to say that the show was mindblowing! The band was able to rehearse for only little more than 2 days. Results were great. Hearing songs done in acoustic way when you thought could never been done that way went everyone wild. Surely the venue and part of the audience was not the typical one for BOC but nonetheless the response was even touching at time. Here’s the song list:
This Ain’t the Summer of Love
    Before the kiss
    Divine Wind
    Burning for you
    I’d on life itself
    Dancing in the ruins
    I love the night
    Career of Evil
    The Vigil
    Harvester of Eyes
    The Reaper
    In Thee (encore)
Gil Blanco County (Stalk Forrest Group Tune)
    ME.262 (encore)

  8. The song Summa Cum Laude is an unreleased song from a Movie soundtrack . It’s on the 40th ann. boxed set. The song they were going to do but could not because of UNION RULES was Cities on Flame. It was a very satisfying show for this fan.

  14. Bless you, Big O! You’ve pulled off another brilliant share! Was really hoping to see this show on here one of these days.

All the best to you and happiest of holidays to all the Big O staff!

  15. Big O Amigos:
Thank you very much. This could be a very good soundtrack for my late-night birthday celebration. Love looking at he set list. The only thing it misses is “Veterans of the Psychic War.”

It will go great late Saturday night in Thompson while grilling venison brauts, drinking hard cider, contemplating decades spent on planet earth and life’s paths.

    Be well,

  16. You notice the difference between Radino and Albert Bouchard on drums? It’s not even close. Bring Albert back!

  18. Hey Ed Saad or other BIGO / BOC fans, around the time of this post Sandy Hurricane show, BOC did some ALL acoustic shows in the NYC Metro area. This show is just a tease with just a few acoustic tunes. Does anyone have any copies or can send the links? Thanks in advance.
