Israel 1987 [no label, 1CD]

Live at Rishon Letzion, Israel. Very good to excellent FM broadcast 1987.

This is a request from Erik Meijs, who runs the James Taylor fansite, www.james-taylor.nl.

Thanks to jitters, who shared the tracks in 2006. Jitters noted: “As I got this in a trade, I have no info about the recording levels. The radio announcer talks at the start of a few tracks, but not over the songs, apart from “The Twist” it’s not to annoying though.”

James Taylor has dubbed himself an “unabashed liberal” and has championed progressive left-leaning politics for most of his career. Yet there he was in 1987, performing at Rishon Letzion (near Tel-Aviv, Israel) and the show was reported to have been broadcast over the Israeli Defense Forces radio station (Galei Tzahal). Wonder if he’d give a thought to the plight of the Palestinians or still do a show for the IDF today?

  6. the twist?
really…if i had paid good money to watch this dinosaur and he played that load of crap song I would have asked for my money back.

  7. Another great offer by BigO !
I wish I could afford to make a donation now… I really do ! But you probably know what it’s like in Greece these days…My credit card dept is yet to be paid and I have not used it for over a year… but I still hope that maybe in the future…if I live that long…

  8. I wonder why he didn’t play a show for the Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank? Because they’d cut his throat before the soundcheck concluded…that’s why. Let’s ask pro Palestinian and Italian reporter, writer, pacifist and activist Vittorio Arrigoni what he thinks about James Taylor playing a gig in Israel. Oh,wait,we can’t…his Palestinian friends killed him in Gaza.

  9. Some may say to have cut the throat of one James Vernon Taylor is the best thing for him, in fact if it was done before the release of the mediocre “Running man” he or she would have done the world a favor!!

“Mud slide slim and the Blue Horizon” was the last thing this man can claim to be called music… saying that my son Darth has pictures from a 1976 Radio Hall performance that are stunning DON’T ASK TO SEE BECAUSE THEY ARE PRIVATE!

  10. i will get this one, on spec…

  11. Darth’s Mom needs to be locked up somewhere. Such talk of violence
toward one of the mellowest, finest writers and performers of several generations. Obviously, this psychopath has not heard Secret O Life,
Never Die Young, That’s Why I’m Here, Copperline, Millworker, Shower the People, and all of ONE MAN DOG. I suggest you stay tuned to AM radio
so you can hear Fire & Rain over and over and over. (And I still love that song too.). Darth - I am your MOTHER!

  12. Okay Fortwaldron “Secret O Life” doesn’t make me want to smother my whole family with a pillow like most of JT’S Post Mud slim output but the rest of the album it’s on is only memorable cause it was his last one where he had hair.

Yeah and it’s one of the biggest selling of his carrer but what does that mean “Lets dance” is Bowies biggest so what does that tell ya! Jt might suffer from Depression but when the first chords of “your ssmilining face ” kick in its me who wants to slit my wrists!!! I think this song is best parodied on SOUTHPARK, adult comtemporary indeed!!!!

Now has anyone seen Darth? If so tell him to get the heck home he needs to do his home work (cominity College) before dinner, it’s meatloaf night!

By Darth Mom on Feb 6, 2013

  13. Pardon all spelling mistakes, IVE HAD A STROKE! But can still make one hell of a KD and hotdog feast!

By Darth Mom on Feb 6, 2013

  14. meatloaf night ? dammit woman , you know what we caught him doing with that last time!

    By darth`s dad on Feb 6, 2013

  15. He was scratching to the Rhythm of a Trogs bootleg in Reno cassette thats all, we can talk about this in private!!!

    By Darth's MOM on Feb 6, 2013

  16. @Darth’s Mom - Sorry to hear of your stroke, I hope you recover soon and can get your lazy ass out of bed and cook your poor husband’s meals again. He’ll waste away to nothing, while you’re lying there recovering.

  17. WTF!Poor Palesinians, you mean the poor Paesinians who strap bombs on their children, and send them out to kill civilians?, or the poor Palesinians that shoot rockets, at civilian targets. How dare those Jews fight back! But they’re Jews, oh wait, don’t I go to church every Sunday, and pray to a Jewish Rabbi. Maybe I should actually think this though!

  18. people shouldn`t post political rants when they are drunk and can`t spell. It kind of takes the edge off.
