TONY BENNETT
Monterey 2012 [no label, 1CD]

Live at the 55th Monterey Jazz Festival (Jimmy Lyons Stage), Monterey, CA; September 22, 2012. Excellent KUSP-FM broadcast.

Tony Bennett must have won a few more younger fans when he sang with Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones, among others, on the 2011 hit album, Duets II. As Clint Eastwood introduces at this Monterey show: “He’s gonna represent everything that you’ve ever dreamed of if you’ve never seen him before as far as being a singer and he’s the last man standing if you’re my age.”

And at 85, Tony Bennett has still quite a voice.

Thanks to Kanzan for recording and sharing the show at Dime. Thanks also to Simmdale for the artwork.

  3. YEAH YOU REALLY GOTTA HAND IT TO MR. BENNETT FOR JUST LOOKING AFTER HIS VOICE ALL THESE YEARS.
NEVER EVER HEARD ANY WEIRD SHIT ATTACHED TO HIM EITHER UNLIKE SO MANY OTHER “STARS”.
MUST BE GOOD KARMA TO JUST BE A GENTLEMAN.

  4. Dropkick Sarge, he had a rough time just before his 1980’s comeback. He had become addicted to cocaine and was only playing nostalgia shows in Las Vegas. His son, Danny, began managing him in 1979, cleared up his chemical dependency and various financial problems. In 1986 he released “The Art of Excellence”, an amazing record, and the comeback was on it’s way.
