NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE
Sydney 2013 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney, Australia; March 10, 2013. Good to very good audience recording.

Thanks to philandjenny who recorded and shared the show at Dime.

philandjenny noted:

A fine show indeed at the soon-to-be-gone Entertainment Centre. The last time I saw Neil was at the same venue on the “Greendale” tour (shudder). This was much better but could have been so much more. Looking at the setlists, all the down under shows are the same sets, with the odd variation for the encore. God knows where these two encores came from but they beg the question… “Where the hell was Like A Hurricane or Cortez or anything really that would have better than what we got?” Ah well, what’s a poor boy to do? Thought it would have been a bit louder but the volume didn’t get ramped up until Hey Hey. Pretty quiet audience around me during the music so no idiot banter which is always a treat.

  9. WOW! I was just listening to Re-ac-tor while working in my garage. I said to my wife “I wish Neil would do that song live again” and he has. One of his underrated songs. Can’t wait to hear it tomorrow! Thanks, as always, BigO for all you do to keeps our ears and hearts happy.

By Johnny Kinkdom on Mar 12, 2013

  10. Yeah, Re-ac-tor is one of my favorite NY albums. Nice to see he’s pulling it out for this tour! Probably too much to hope for for Southern Pacific or (please please please) Shots, but I’ll take what I can get…

Thanks for the continued posting of Neil’s tour, Big O. You’re doing a bang-up job on all fronts!

Hell I yelled for this song at the Brisbane gig on March 7.Frank ‘Poncho’ sampedro replied “Yeah we’re Prisoners” but they NEVER played it.Sydney can thank me for Neil and the Horse pulling this ‘oldie’ out. They musta practiced on the way down.If any song gives any description of the Horse it’s this one.
Thankyou Neil you rocked me in BrizVegas but I would have loved to have to hear Prisoners Of Rock N Roll.To think I’m originally from Sydney but missed out cos I now live where Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.

By DROPKICK SARGE on Mar 13, 2013

  18. You’re not the only one, Dropkick. Trans is pretty much the entire reason I got into Neil. I think I listened to Computer Cowboy every day for three months at one point.

  19. Awesome set list - pretty obvious he played Opera Star because of the famous Sydney Opera House which dominates the harbour skyline there….unlikely he will ever play Cowgirl In The Sand again - listen to his comments from The Bottom Line (05-16-74) where he explains why he can’t do it live anymore.

By Adam Dean on Mar 14, 2013

  20. To Adam, Cowgirl In The Sand Has Been Played Live 161 Times Since the 5/16/74 Show.Last Time Played Was On ‘09 Tour.Last Time With Crazy Horse Was 3/14/04 Camden,NJ Greendale Tour.

  21. that show at the bottom line was an unscheduled show. i went to see ry cooder that nite as a birthday present. my bday was the next day and i saw neil in the audience watching ry intently. 90% of the audience left when ry was done. in fact a bunch of ppl actually left before ry did his encore. which i thought was kinda odd. the place wasnt full to begin with and was half empty for the encore. then there was like 75 or 80 ppl who stayed mingling about. i heard someone talking behind me who said theyre gonna stay cuz they heard something was gonna happen. so i asked the person i was with if we could hang around for a while. they said sure. about 20mins later it quieted down and a voice boomed out over the loud speakers and it said ladies and gentlemen surprise guest unexpected something or other.. would u welcome neil young. it was my first time seeing ry live and now my first time seeing neil solo. i had seen csny 2 or 3x by then. the bottom line was an essentially new venue when that happened. it hadnt been open that long yet. im lucky i was allowed in. my 14th birthday was the next day. i looked much older. kinda funny..when i shave i look much younger now. hehe.

  28. ive told u many times.. u cant reason with these ppl. stop trying. ive proven it isnt possible. they wont listen. theyre not interested in peace or rational logical linear intelligent thought. nothing u say to them will get thru. ive tried repeatedly. somehow its your fault and mine that they are the way they are..they say the things they say and they behave the way they do. it defies reason and theres no way to make sense of it. just give up. thats all u can do. ive compared what these idiots do to what hitler did and believe it or not they actually claimed that what hitler did was the jews fault. so look at what u are trying to talk to.

By darth on Mar 19, 2013

  29. “ive compared what these idiots do to what hitler did and believe it or not they actually claimed that what hitler did was the jews fault.”

please provide a link to the comments u claim “they” made.

or is this just something u remember, like the history of bootlegs?

By barth on Mar 20, 2013

  30. ive compared …… so look at what u are trying to talk to.

c`mon darth let`s see some proof of this . I dare you to come up with proof.
You never made this claim and no one else ever stated the filth you claim they did.

By uncle remus on Mar 20, 2013

  31. darth, you should have taken the bigO moderator’s advice, and ignored it. You’re either a masochist, or a much more desperate attention whore than I thought. You’re not being persecuted, the only thing that’s died here is your credibility.

Give us a link to the Hitler comments, darth. You made the accusation, now back it up. Show us what “they” said. Your memory has been proven to be wrong several times here recently, time to save face.

By Dingus on Mar 20, 2013

  32. unbelievable. just unbelievable. either you are a victim of amnesia or you are the number one troll in the world Darth. Nowhere were these statements made by others here and you are revealing even more of your ugliness by uttering these cagey anti-semitic comments.
    You are despicable.

By sluggo on Mar 20, 2013

  33. darth , the one who new nothing about bootleg history , refuted the evidence given about the father of bootlegging lionel mapleson now spreads more venom towards others with his poison pen offerings of civil prejudice and hate speech.
Where is your evidence Darth ?

  36. im not sure if i mentioned it or not but psychedelic pill had a bonus track on some copies. first on some copies the title track is offered as an additional alternate mix. this isnt on all copies. that brings the total amount of tracks to 9. then theres a 10th track that is actually numbered 9. its called horse back. its 37 minutes long. i dont know if most or any of u have heard this killer track but its unbelievable. its my fave song on the entire album but then i love this cd to death. previously my fave neil cd was mirror ball. hell of a pairing him w/pj. fantastic job. would be nice to get some live performances of some of those songs. or even some outtakes if there are any.

By darth on Mar 23, 2013

  37. “im not sure if i mentioned it”

darth, how about mentioning the link to the Hitler comments you mentioned above? You seem to have finally learned how to successfully cut and paste a web site link, keep up the good work!
