Officer killed on MIT campus near Boston

April 19, 2013, around midnight.

A university police officer has died after being shot on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus in Cambridge late Thursday, said state police spokesman Lt. Mark Riley. The MIT officer was responding to a disturbance when he was shot, according to the state district attorney’s office. He sustained “multiple gunshot wounds.”

State police and the FBI were called in after the shooting and found the campus policeman near Building 32 on MIT’s campus. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the district attorney’s office said.

This is breaking news. Go to a news site for updates.

  8. No way was this thing recorded on stage as the liner notes imply. I have been collecting Stones boots since the day and just want to clear up that story. Yes, a very good shotgun mic was used but they were in the audience and pointed the mic at the stage. It’s very obvious from the overall sound quality as well as you can clearly hear people beside the taper at times. Still this is a must-have classic Stones boot that had a phenomenal impact and set the course for a lot that followed. If you would like a nice quality vinyl rip of the original Trade Mark Of Quality boot, please feel free to email me.

  9. Sad to hear / read of Storm Thorgerson passing away… he was a genius when it came to rock and art. not all his covers were winners, but they made you stop and think and that’s what mattered. And some made you laugh, and some made you just keep looking in wonder. And I think he influenced a boatload of other people along the way with his album covers. RIP Storm, you won’t be forgotten.
