White Light [A ***** Production/2CD, 1DVD, 4LP set - only the 2CDs are shared here]

CDs/LPs: Live at the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, April 11, 1978; Earl’s Court, London, UK, July 1, 1978. DVD: Dallas Convention Centre, Dallas, TX, April 10, 1978; Nippon Budokan,Tokyo Japan, December 12, 1978. Very good soundboard?

Thanks to GoblinKing for sharing this at Mind-Warp Pavilion. GoblinKing noted:

While I usually let the new vinyl boots come and go without buying them, this release was a little different, and it was for that reason I decided it was worthwhile. You see, most of the new vinyl bootlegs being produced these days are created from material originally torrented online, and that would then make them “2nd gen”.

But this one is different… well, at least partly different. While I haven’t fully examined the DVD, the start of the Dallas Convention Centre concert was certainly VHS sourced, and looks very much like the last upgrade torrented here. The big draw, however was the audio, and you all know that I’m talking about… the supposedly “Soundboard” Earls Court recording. In addition, we have a really nice recording of “Baton Rouge”. I don’t remember “Baton Rouge” being this good, but after digging it out, I think it may be (at least) the same source as the one we’ve always had. Still a great listen, and a bonus for any of you that haven’t heard the “Baton Rouge” CDR release, but I’m convinced it’s not new.

While the Baton Rogue show is presented in full, the July 1, 1978 Earl’s Court show is incomplete.

Back in 2011, majorstardust posted at the David Bowie Wonderworld Message Board: “The first half Of the Earls Court show from 1st July 1978 is in some collectors hands in soundboard quality.” It is likely that this is all that is available.

The tour band remembered that “every show was taped” for Bowie’s private use, and the tapes were carefully guarded by Carlos [Alomar, guitarist]. - wikipedia

The final night of the Earl’s Court, London performance (July 1, 1978) was recorded by the RCA mobile unit with the live performance premiere of the song, “Sound and Vision,” later released on the 1995 compilation album, Rarestonebowie. The song was not performed live again until the 1990 Sound and Vision Tour. However, Rarestonebowie was one in the series of mid-’90s releases by MainMan, Bowie’s former management company during the ’70s (other ones being Santa Monica ‘72 and the Ava Cherry & The Astronettes album People from Bad Homes). All these albums were released without Bowie’s approval and are currently deleted. - wikipedia

  8. without using other peoples arguments instead of your own.. back up your argument. show me proof of what u claim. all youre doing here is linking me to what someone else says. u didnt find any inaccuracies. even if u click the final link in the article at hand it doesnt really say anything except to treat the site as u would any encyclopedia. then what else would u do? u shouldnt use it blindly anyway. but the point is when u need some info its a fine place to find it. u have no other sites that are better than wikipedia. any other sites u find are just as trustworthy. theyre all made by humans that are just as fallible. but usually the facts on wikipedia are referenced down below if u look carefully in a sort of bibliography.
im not sure what u are trying to prove but youre failing terribly. linking to an article that agrees with u doesnt prove a point any more than the obvious fact that anyone can say that they know something is true because they found the info via a google search. thats just common sense. google is a search engine. its not a fact finding site. it will help someone find information on sites that have been posted by other people. that info is no more accurate than the people who researched it and posted it there. the same applies to any site. wikipedia is a fine source for knowledge. i dont know why u or anyone wouldnt use it.
i agree with professors not wanting their students to use wikipedia as their source for information they use for papers they turn in. they should however if they need to start with wiki continue from there and go further and use it as a starting point. it should be used as a springboard. thats how true learning begins. dont blindly trust the first source of anything u learn. learn to investigate and research things. thats what going to school is all about in the first place. perhaps thats what the teachers are trying to educate the students to do in this day and age of online convenience. we didnt have that option when i went to school.

  13. @mister info - what does this have to do with David Bowie?

By MrBill on Jun 6, 2013

  14. I agree with MrBill, this has nothing to do with Bowie. Probably just someone wanting to get something started with Darth.

By nubious on Jun 6, 2013

  15. no its not what i do. the info i am linking to when i link to wiki is info that others have researched in other places and then posted to wikipedia. im not using their arguments to back my argument. that is what u are doing when u posted the link above all by itself. youre saying ‘all the proof’ yet u show none. u have to come up with proof not just say that there is proof. dont u understand the difference?
lets say for example u were the prosecuting lawyer and giving an opening statement and u say that u will show such n such to prove that the defendant did this or that etc. then comes the trial of course and the jury would then make their decision on whether or not u did as u claimed u would do in your opening statement and whether or not the defense lawyer did a better job than u did in proving u were full of crap lol. right? if u only claim u will come up with proof but u never actually do it during the course of the trial thats not actually good enough. saying u will isnt actually doing it. showing me a statement where others have said the same thing u said again isnt proving your case. yes i have heard these same things u have said before. i asked u to show me these bits of proof tho. u havent come up with any. u are believing what other people have claimed. its mostly rumor. sure there are and have been errors and mistakes just like any other encyclopedia. and as it says if u click on the link at the bottom of the first link u provided by several of the people who commented.. wikipedia should serve as a forum to use as a springboard towards further investigation not the final source of info. just as u would any other source.
when u did homework in grade school did u copy the encyclopedia word for word and take that to school as your work? i hope not. so why do u look at wikipedia as the final word on all things that way?
im not suggesting that u should. i didnt even link u to it here. i have used it and when i have i have found it to be very informative and factual and useful. if u dont like it then dont use it. i havent found any errors. neither have u. and if anyone here has it isnt a seriously important one. the vast majority of information u will find on the site for any particular subject in question will be of extreme accuracy. if u have better sources.. use them. usually they will be the same ones that are used for wikipedia.
u arent making a valid argument. i did.

  22. Tahnk you 5yrsnojob & darth. I met Joey once about 5 years ago, great guy. Had a lot to tell. I like the fact that he didn’t have a seat belt on, because, that’s how I want to go, in more ways than one.

  24. Timmy, seat belts aren’t infallible. I and the guy in the pickup behind me were rammed by a drunk driver. The seat belt broke in the pu and his chair was ripped away from the floor. He bounced around in the cab. Other than bruises, he was fine. I am hurt worse than he was. I finally had shoulder surgery 6 weeks ago in 3 areas. No solution for 2 compressed discs in my neck, still have loud ringing in ears. The crash happened 15 mos. ago.

    By 5yrsnojob on Jun 6, 2013

  25. “I like the fact that he didn’t have a seat belt on, because, that’s how I want to go, in more ways than one.”

Wow, Timmy, that would be way cool, dude!

But that’s no guarantee that you’ll be killed instantly; you could be crippled, or be a paraplegic, and live the rest of your life in constant pain. Or you could die very slowly and painfully at the accident scene, because no one’s around to help you. Maybe your car catches fire with you stuck inside, and you’re still alive, and you slowly burn to death. Cool!

Timmy dude, maybe you could just die of a heroin OD, like all the coolest rock stars did!

not as lame as u taking over two months to come up with that puerile remark.

ill save u some time- puerile is an adjective meaning childishly silly and trivial.

By barth on Aug 15, 2013

  42. yeah barf u should be like barth and sit on the edge of your seat all day long and refresh these pages so u can see if theres anything to comment on or respond to and wait for people to say things that u can jump on. u too could have no life and repeatedly say how youre going to ignore people like me (and never actually do it of course) and keep provoking and instigating and harassing and so on for years. or u could come here every so often and be like a regular person who has a life and wants to dl a concert or two and add stuff to his collection. which will u pick? curtain #1 or door #2 or basement #3? u may not be able to pick the basement.. it seems shithead is in that one. lol
