Helsinki 2013 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Finlandia Hall, Helsinki, Finland; May 31, 2013. Good to fairly good audience recording.

It’s not common to comes across live recordings of Michel Legrand and here’s a collector’s item for soundtrack fans. After all, his classics such as You Must Believe In Spring, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Summer Of 42 and The Windmills Of Your Mind are all here. And don’t forget Legrand did the Dingo soundtrack with Miles Davis.

Thanks to finkployd49 who recorded and shared the show at Dime. finkployd49 noted: “I was having a holiday in beautiful Finland and I attended this concert by curiosity (and to please my girlfriend). All in all I spent a nice evening in this superb modern concert hall; Michel Legrand did not sing too much and focused on jazz and film scores. I did not have my usual recording gear (Zoom H2); this is why I used my smartphone and I am happy with the result.”
